The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is one of the most controversial British Royal Family members ever.
After trashing the Royal Family and watching her podcast flop, it looked like Markle and her husband Prince Harry were about to be exiled from A-list society.
But now Meghan Markle may win an Oscar with this comeback attempt.
Markle and Harry’s feud with Prince William and the rest of the Royal Family rendered the couple toxic in Hollywood.
No one wanted anything to do with them out of fear associating with the couple would alienate Prince William and kill the ability of anyone to open a film or play in London.
That’s all changed now thanks to the unlikely smash success of the show Suits on Netflix.
Suits was an obscure legal procedural show that ran for nine seasons on the USA Network between 2011 and 2019.
Markle starred on the show for its first seven seasons before departing due to her impending marriage to Prince Harry.
Thanks to Netflix resurrecting the show and Markle’s role, Suits is the number one trending show on the streaming platform and is the runaway hit of 2023.
That success now has Markle plotting a Hollywood comeback and looking at projects that could reportedly win her an Oscar.
“Suits is such a hit in reruns that Meghan’s being told there’s a demand from fans to see her act again,” Life & Style Magazine reported a source saying.
“She’s excited. While she’d love to land a new TV part, Meghan really wants to sink her teeth into a dramatic film role. She thinks an Oscar would be in her future,” the source added.
Markle signed with the heavyweight talent agency WME and her team is now composed of the agents who represent tennis star Serena Willians and action movie icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
The success of Suits on Netflix opened doors that Markle either closed, or were closed to her, after she smeared the Royal Family as racists in an interview with Oprah.
“She’d gotten a bunch of offers over the last five years, but turned them down because she really was trying to embrace royal life and, later, forge a new path behind the scenes in Hollywood with Harry,” Life & Style Magazine reported another insider saying.
“But now that’s all changed. With other opportunities drying up, she’s actively looking for roles and talking to some big-name directors and producers. Harry is 100 percent supportive of all of it. Acting is what Meghan knows and what she’s always loved,” the insider added.
But the New York Post’s famed “Page Six” gossip column reported Markle is not looking to act again, but instead wants a role behind the camera as a producer and brand builder.
“This is definitely not a move back into acting, Meghan is exceptionally ambitious. The deal is for her for film and TV production, brand partnerships and endorsements,” the Post reported a source claiming.
“Both Meghan and Harry have said they want purpose-focused deals for their charities, but she is looking for big Hollywood projects,” the source concluded.
