Mark Cuban has become one of Kamala Harris’ top surrogates this election.
But even he can tell which way the political winds are blowing.
And Mark Cuban made one confession about Donald Trump that left Democrats stunned.
Mark Cuban talks about a potential Donald Trump victory
Former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has become one of the most visible surrogates for Vice President Kamala Harris in the media.
He is the most vocal defender of her economic agenda and tries to convince the business community that she will be a moderate in office.
Cuban has a grudge against former President Donald Trump that helps his support for Kamala.
But the Shark Tank star can tell which way the Presidential race is leaning in the final days before the election.
Cuban appeared on CNBC’s Squawk Box where he laughably claimed that Kamala was the pro-business candidate in the race.
In a surprising answer to co-host Joe Kernen, he said he would be open to working with Trump if he won.
“If they ask, I’m open to it,” Cuban said about working with a potential Trump administration.
“Let me just add, if Trump wins, last time when he won, he asked me to help on health care, on PPE [personal protective equipment], I sat with Peter Navarro and helped him come up with a mask company and helped them grow,” Cuban continued. “That was all domestic production. I’ll do the same thing. I’m America first.”
Cuban has been an outspoken critic of Trump for years.
This could be seen as the reality TV star and entrepreneur hedging his bets if Kamala goes down in November.
“You know, that’s the wrong way to put it,” Cuban explained. “I am, what’s best for this country, country over party, country over all. I just think Kamala Harris, without any question in my mind, is the better candidate and the better president for this country.”
Mark Cuban confronted over Kamala position he opposes
Cuban likes to claim that Kamala is the pro-business candidate in the race but he admitted one of her policies would destroy the economy.
She proposed a tax on unrealized capital gains that would require someone to pay taxes on the gains of a stock or a house even if they didn’t sell it.
“What I told them is if you tax unrealized gains, you’re going to kill the stock market, and it’s going to be the ultimate employment plan for private equity because companies are not going to go public because you can get whipsawed,” Cuban previously said.
Taxing unrealized capital gains is one of the economic proposals in American history and yet Cuban will argue that Kamala is a moderate who’s pro-business.
He told CNBC that it was “absolutely not going to happen” despite Kamala claiming to support it.
And the Shark Tank star vowed to “campaign against her so there wouldn’t be a second term” if an unrealized capital gains tax happened under her.
Mark Cuban seems to know which way the political winds are blowing right before the election and is hedging his bets.
