The Left have been pushing relentlessly for “green” technology.
And many companies have gone along with the clumsy climate initiative.
But a major auto CEO just blew the whistle on one truth about electric vehicles.
Climate hysteria has reached levels never seen before.
It’s gotten so bad that young people are literally experiencing climate anxiety, believing that the climate will be uninhabitable in short order.
One of the so-called “solutions” to impending climate catastrophe is a massive push for electric vehicles.
California already pledged to ban new gas-powered vehicles by 2035.
Car manufactures are reading the tea leaves and transitioning into producing more electric vehicles.
However, not everyone in the industry is sold.
In fact, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda said that a “silent majority” is not sold on the EV revolution.
The Wall Street Journal reported that “Akio Toyoda said he is among the auto industry’s silent majority in questioning whether electric vehicles should be pursued exclusively, comments that reflect a growing uneasiness about how quickly car companies can transition. Auto makers are making big bets on fully electric vehicles, investments that have been bolstered by robust demand for the limited numbers of models that are now available. Still, challenges are mounting—particularly in securing parts and raw materials for batteries—and concerns have emerged in some pockets of the car business about the speed to which buyers will make the shift, especially as EV prices have soared this year.”
The demand for EVs is not close to where Democrat politicians and climate activists want it.
The great irony of the EV push is that used gas-powered vehicles have less of a carbon footprint than not-yet-produced EVs.
And if more EVs hit the road, that will be more cars plugging into the power grid, which is powered by coal and nuclear power, two energy sources the environmentals hate.
Toyoda said, “People involved in the auto industry are largely a silent majority . . . That silent majority is wondering whether EVs are really okay to have as a single option. But they think it’s the trend so they can’t speak out loudly.”
This sentiment exists in almost all facets of culture as the radical Left has become ascendant.
People are afraid to speak their minds for fear of backlash and “cancellation.”
This will have dire consequences, particularly for the economy.
The electric vehicle push is not being determined by market conditions – it is being determined by policies based on dubious science.
