Laura Ingraham just exposed the amnesty scam hiding inside the Dignity Act.
Now a Republican congressman is on Fox News defending it – and she dismantled him live on air.

The Dignity Act Loophole Ingraham Read Straight From the Bill
Mike Lawler went on The Ingraham Angle Tuesday night to sell the so-called Dignity Act – a bill he co-sponsors that would grant legal status to illegal aliens who have been here more than five years.
He had his talking points ready.
No criminals. Pay a fine. Back taxes. Continuous presence since before 2020.
It all sounded smooth.
Then Ingraham asked him one question: How does an immigration officer actually determine continuous presence for millions and millions of cases?

Lawler's answer: the Department of Homeland Security will "make the determination."
That's it.
The whole bill rests on a bureaucratic shrug.
Ingraham wasn't letting that slide.
She pushed back hard on Lawler's claim that no criminals could qualify – pointing out that the bill's language on "nonviolent" offenses leaves significant room for people with serious records to slip through.
Then came the kill shot.
She told him she cannot imagine Democrat immigration officers under a future Democrat president holding the line on criminals – especially when gang member affiliation is already given wide latitude under the bill's own framework.
Lawler did not answer.
He pivoted back to talking points.
She read the bill back to him again.
He pivoted again.
That went on for the entire segment.
A congressman who co-sponsors legislation he cannot defend when someone reads it out loud to him.
The Last Amnesty Bill Promised the Same Thing in 1986
We have been here exactly once before – 1986, when Ronald Reagan signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act into law.
The setup was identical.
Border security first. Employer sanctions. A limited pathway – only for people here since before 1982. Tough-sounding guardrails. Bipartisan support. Reassurances that enforcement would follow.
What actually happened: 2.7 million illegal aliens got legal status.
The promised crackdowns never materialized.
And the illegal alien population quadrupled in the decades that followed.
Heritage Foundation scholars who were there in '86 put it plainly – once people are legalized, the political will to enforce the other provisions collapses entirely.
The Dignity Act is that bill with a new logo.
Same promises. Same loopholes. Same reliance on future enforcement that everyone knows will never come.
What Lawler Cannot Explain
The bill's protections depend entirely on two things: accurate criminal background checks and verified continuous presence.
For millions of applicants.
Many of whom have no reliable documentation trail.
Administered by a federal bureaucracy that will eventually be run by whoever wins the next presidential election.
Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) called it "rank amnesty" and said what needed to be said – the bill prioritizes illegal aliens over the Americans whose interests Congress is supposed to represent.
The Federalist called the Dignity Act the worst thing Republicans could do going into the 2026 midterms.

The GOP won in 2024 because voters trusted them on immigration above every other issue.
Pushing amnesty before the midterms doesn't just betray that trust – it tells the base their votes were a transaction, not a mandate.
The White House has been clear. President Trump will not support amnesty.
Lawler knows exactly what this bill is.
He represents a purple district in New York and he wants a position he can run on that isn't "mass deportation."
That's the whole game.
The compassionate branding, the Dignity Tour, the Fox News appearances – none of it is for you.
It's for the swing voters he thinks he needs.
What he's gambling is that the base won't notice or won't care enough to punish him.
They noticed. They care.
Reagan tried the same trade in 1986 – amnesty now, enforcement later.
The enforcement never came.
And now a Republican congressman is on Fox News telling Laura Ingraham's audience it'll be different this time, because a DHS bureaucrat will figure it out.
Kill the Dignity Act.
Every Republican who votes for it deserves to hear about it every single day until November.
