Kamala Harris is now officially the Democrat nominee for President.

Democrats think the momentum is shifting their way.

But Kamala Harris got thrown for a loop by this rude awakening about the 2024 election.

Former Obama chief strategist throws cold water on Kamala Harris surge

Former Obama Chief Strategist David Axelrod appeared on CNN and offered up a more sober analysis of where the race stands.

National polls show Harris taking a slight lead over Trump as a coordinated media propaganda campaign tries to make this election about the “vibe” of the 60-year-old Harris being “young” and “cool.”

Axelrod acknowledged Harris had momentum on her side but that the race was exceptionally close.

“She has a lot of momentum, but if you do look at the polling, this is still a really tight race,” Axelrod stated.

“This is going to be a hard fight for either side. It’s based on the numbers we’re seeing right now,” Axelrod added.

Axelrod said “irrational exuberance” overtook the Democrat Party because the situation looked so hopeless with Joe Biden as the candidate that Democrats weren’t seeing the whole playing field.

“Look, I mean, there’s a lot of irrational exuberance . . . on the Democratic side of the aisle right now, because there was despair for some period of time about what November was gonna look like,” Axelrod declared.

“Now people feel like there’s a chance,” Axelrod continued.

Axelrod says race is still Trump’s to lose

Contrary to the narrative taking root in the press, Axelrod says Trump is still the favorite in the election.

“It’s absolutely Trump’s race to lose right now. He is ahead,” Axelrod remarked.

Axelrod explained that polls – both public and private – both show Trump leading Harris in the battleground states, which still makes him the favorite in this race.

“And he is ahead in most of the battleground states. They’re close, they can be won by either candidate,” Axelrod concluded.

There is no doubt Harris experienced a burst of momentum upon taking Joe Biden’s place.

A dispirited Democrat Party instantly united around her.

But the fundamentals of the race largely remain the same.

A supermajority of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track.

Inflation and immigration are the top two issues for voters.

Polls show Donald Trump leads Harris on who they trust more to manage the economy and the border.

Harris also has yet to answer any questions in an unscripted setting, and the Democrats, as well as their media allies, are creating an image of Kamala Harris that is likely to fall far short of the reality once they get a look at the unscripted Kamala Harris when she debates Donald Trump.
