Kamala Harris thought she came out of the debate with major momentum.
Now she’s starting to get a clearer picture of the political landscape.
And Kamala Harris got some terrible news out of left field that had her panicking.
Kamala Harris’ debate victory that wasn’t
Vice President Kamala Harris was treated as the big winner of her debate against former President Donald Trump by Democrats and their media allies.
She spouted off rehearsed lines and avoided any pushback from ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis.
Meanwhile, Trump was hit with false “fact-checks” from the moderators throughout the debate.
The pundits in the media claimed that Kamala walked away from the debate as the big winner.
But earning kudos from the media doesn’t count for anything on Election Day.
The real question was how the debate was perceived by the all-important independent voters.
Maslansky + Partners President Lee Carter, a Republican pollster, revealed that Kamala’s debate performance didn’t move the needle with independent voters during an appearance on Fox News.
Carter said that while it may have appeared that she did well during the debate, it didn’t translate into anything tangible.
Kamala failed to answer one big question
“I had focus groups live that were saying that she did a great job that night but she did not win any votes,” Carter said. “Not one single person that I talked to changed their mind based on that debate.”
“And I found it fascinating because people said that she did a great job, they said that she was, you know, all of these things — and I was — then why aren’t you going to vote for her?” Carter added.
Kamala’s rehearsed answers that the media loved failed to connect with independent voters in Carter’s focus groups.
“And here’s what they said. The undecided voter — I had nine of them in the room — said, ‘I wanted to hear what she’s going to do differently than Joe Biden. I wanted to hear what’s different about the economy. I can’t afford groceries now, I used to be able to afford groceries. What’s she going to do to bring prices down?’” Carter recalled.
Kamala hasn’t successfully made the case that she wouldn’t be President Joe Biden’s second term.
“She didn’t answer that very simple question for them,” Carter explained. “And it doesn’t translate to votes.”
Focus groups by The New York Times and Reuters found similar results.
Kamala has tried to portray herself as the candidate of change in the race and portray Trump as the incumbent.
Her campaign has ridden the good vibes from the billions of dollars worth of media propaganda that she’s gotten.
But she’s avoided laying out a concerted policy agenda other than offering vague platitudes.
Kamala has tried to do a tightrope walk on her connection to the Biden-Harris administration.
On the campaign trail, she acts like a fresh face who showed up in politics in July.
During her interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, Kamala boasted that she was proud of Biden’s economic record.
The reaction by undecided and independent voters to the debate suggests that despite her best efforts she’s seen as another four years of Joe Biden.
