Obama's IRS used the tax code as a weapon against conservatives.
Now one of his biggest defenders just explained why nobody noticed.
Joy Behar told a podcast audience this week there was nothing to make fun of during the Obama years – and she didn't realize she was describing the cover-up.
Joy Behar Defends Obama While His IRS Scandal Went Uninvestigated
On The View's "Behind the Table" podcast Tuesday, Behar was reacting to director Judd Apatow's complaint that political comedy had become too serious under Trump.
She agreed. Then she said the quiet part out loud.
"When Obama came in, it was nice," Behar said. "There was nothing to make fun of. It was… things were going well for eight years."
Eight years.
She lived through Fast and Furious – the Obama Justice Department's operation that put roughly 2,000 guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartel smugglers.
One of those guns turned up at the murder scene of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry in 2010.
Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress for refusing to hand over documents about the program.
Joy Behar had nothing to say about that.
She lived through the IRS scandal – where Obama's Internal Revenue Service systematically targeted Tea Party and conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status.
Lois Lerner ran the division doing the targeting, invoked the Fifth Amendment before Congress, and walked away.
Obama declared there wasn't "even a smidgeon of corruption."
His Justice Department – staffed by a prosecutor who had donated $6,750 to Obama's campaign – investigated and declined to bring charges.
Joy Behar had nothing to say about that either.
How The View Buried Obama Scandals for Eight Years
Here's what Behar doesn't understand she just admitted.
She didn't stop doing stand-up because Obama was boring.
She stopped because the media machine that protected Obama was the same machine that employed her.
NewsBusters associate editor Nicholas Fondacaro said it plainly to Fox News Digital: "They put blinders on when there's a Democrat in office because they think nothing they do is controversial."
He added that The View's mission has always been explicit: to defend Democrats and push leftist policies.
The numbers confirm it.
In 2025, The View hosted 128 liberal guests and two conservatives – a ratio that doesn't happen by accident.
That's not a talk show.
That's a Democratic Party press office with a studio audience.
The Media Cover-Up Joy Behar Just Confirmed Without Realizing It
The media's protection racket for Obama wasn't subtle once you know what to look for.
NewsBusters tracked the IRS scandal coverage and found that after initial reporting in 2013, the three broadcast networks aired only 14 stories combined over the following ten months, even as new damning details kept emerging.
NBC went 828 consecutive days without mentioning it.
ABC went 974 days.
That's not news judgment.
That's a decision to protect a president from accountability.
Fast and Furious got the same treatment.
Benghazi – where Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed, where requests for additional security had been denied for months, where the administration blamed a YouTube video for weeks after knowing it was a terrorist attack – got the same treatment.
The Heritage Foundation documented the pattern: Obama's IRS did something Richard Nixon only dreamed of doing. Nixon talked about using the IRS against his enemies. Obama's team actually did it.
The media buried every story.
Behar spent eight years inside an ecosystem designed to shield the Obama administration from the kind of scrutiny that would have destroyed any Republican presidency.
She genuinely experienced those eight years as uneventful – because the people around her collectively decided that Obama's failures were not news.
So she had nothing to riff on.
Not because there was nothing there.
Because the system worked exactly as it was designed.

The rest of us called it a cover-up.
