The Democrat Party just lost its last two presidential elections to the same man.
Now one of their sharpest Republican critics just said out loud what moderate Democrats are whispering in private.
And John Kennedy’s diagnosis is going to haunt them straight through 2028.
Kennedy Names the Problem Democrats Can’t Fix
Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana went on The Will Cain Show Tuesday and delivered a verdict no Democrat consultant wants to hear.
“The Democratic Party is controlled by the loon wing.”
He didn’t stop there.
“Their motherboard is fried.”
Kennedy named the names: AOC, Bernie Sanders, and New York City’s socialist mayor Zohran Mamdani – the faction that seized the party’s machinery and locked out everyone else.
“They’re deeply weird, they’re nauseously woke,” Kennedy said.

That’s not a campaign attack.
That’s a diagnosis of exactly what happened to the party of JFK and Bill Clinton.
The Silence of the Moderate Democrats
Here’s the part that should terrify every Democrat running in 2026.
Kennedy isn’t just saying the loon wing is loud.
He’s saying the mainstream Democrats who know better have gone mute.
“There are many Democratic senators that know that the loon wing and all of their nonsense, they know it’s foolishness,” he said. “They know it’s craziness. But they’re scared because loon wing is in control.”
Scared of being primaried.
Scared of the social media mob.
Scared of their own base.
Jimmy Carter lost to Ronald Reagan in 1980 after the far left drove the party off a cliff.
Walter Mondale won one state in 1984.

The difference now is the loon wing is stronger, more organized, and holds the fundraising levers the 1980s radicals never had.
And the Democrats who know better have decided silence is safer than survival.
What the Loon Wing Actually Believes
Kennedy didn’t speak in abstractions.
On gender: “They hyperventilate on their yoga mats if you use the wrong pronoun. They think our kids ought to be able to change genders at recess.”
On crime: “They have a unique solution to the crime problem. They have a way to get crime down. It’s just don’t prosecute anybody.”
This is the platform of the party that wants to run against Donald Trump again.
AOC responded to Trump’s Iran policy by accusing him of genocide and declaring his “mental faculties are collapsing and cannot be trusted.”
Sanders announced he would force a Senate vote to block nearly $500 million in weapons transfers to Israel.

The loon wing isn’t a fringe anymore.
They’re setting the agenda.
The Democrats Have a 2028 Problem They Can’t Solve
Kennedy put it plainly: “They’re crazy as a bed bug. Until they change, I don’t think they’re going to win a presidential election.”
The trap is structural.
The loon wing controls the primary machinery – the small-dollar donors, the activist networks, the social media pressure that ends careers overnight.
Any Democrat who moves toward the center has to survive a primary first.
And to survive that primary, you make promises to the loon wing.
Which means the “moderates” who reach the general election aren’t actually moderate anymore.
Ronald Reagan used to say he didn’t leave the Democratic Party – the party left him.
Fifty years later, millions of former Democrats are saying the same thing.
The loon wing fried the motherboard.
And somewhere right now, a Senate Democrat who knows exactly how to fix it just decided it wasn’t worth the fight.
