Bill Clinton ended welfare as we know it.
Now AOC and Bernie Sanders are the face of his party.
John Kennedy just connected those two facts in a way that Democrats cannot answer.
The Five Words That Broke Washington
Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy went on 77 WABC radio Sunday and dropped a grenade that no Democrat in Washington wants to address.
"Bill Clinton couldn't get five votes in the Democratic Party today," Kennedy said.

Clinton ended welfare as a way of life, signed the largest crime bill in American history, put 100,000 cops on the street, and called himself a New Democrat because he knew the old Democrats had driven working Americans straight into the Republican Party.
That Bill Clinton – the one who won two presidential elections – would be laughed out of today's Democratic primary.
Kennedy put a name on who's running the show now.
"The loon-wing of the Democratic Party… the AOC wing, the Bernie Sanders wing – they are in control."
He's right, and the numbers prove it.
AOC Raised $24 Million Last Year
While Washington pretends the Democratic Party is searching for its identity, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised nearly $24 million in 2025 alone.
She and Bernie Sanders filled arenas across the country on their "Fight Oligarchy" tour, drawing crowds that establishment Democrats could only dream about.
AOC is now the frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.
This is the same party that thinks Mr. Potato Head is a civil rights issue.
Kennedy named that too.
"The people in control of the Democratic Party, they hate George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato Head because they think they're racist."
Hasbro caved in 2021 and stripped "Mr." from the brand – gender inclusion, they said.
That same year, six of Dr. Seuss's children's books were pulled from publication over racial imagery in the illustrations – And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, If I Ran the Zoo, McElligot's Pool, On Beyond Zebra!, Scrambled Eggs Super!, and The Cat's Quizzer.
These are children's books.

Written by a man who died in 1991 and remains one of the most beloved authors in American history.
Gone.
Because the loon-wing said so.
The Pattern Nobody Wants to Talk About
Here's what Kennedy understands that most Washington commentators won't say out loud.
Clinton ran on welfare reform, balanced budgets, and more cops on the street because Carter, Mondale, and Dukakis got obliterated and he got the message.
He won. Twice.
Then the radical left waited.
They worked the universities, took over the HR departments, colonized the media, captured the teachers' unions, and slowly made normal American values unspeakable in polite company.
By 2016, Bernie Sanders nearly beat Hillary Clinton in a Democratic primary by running further left than any major candidate in modern history.
By 2025, AOC was pulling in $24 million a year and filling stadiums.
Kennedy himself ran for office as a Democrat – attorney general, state treasurer, U.S. Senate – before watching his party abandon him and every other working American in the South.
"You used to be able to believe" in limited government within the Democratic Party, he said. "You can't anymore."
That's not a talking point.
That's a man who watched it happen from the inside.
What It Means Going Forward
The Democrat Party is not lost.
It's exactly where AOC and Bernie Sanders wanted it.
A party that cancels Mr. Potato Head does not accidentally become that party.
It chooses to.
And right now, that party is recruiting an army of young, hard-left candidates for the 2026 midterms – candidates who flaunt political inexperience as a credential and who share one goal: making the loon-wing permanent.
Clinton's winning coalition – the working-class voters who responded to welfare reform and tough-on-crime policies – is now Trump's coalition.
They didn't leave the Democratic Party.
The radical left threw them out.
John Kennedy said five words on Sunday that every moderate Democrat in a competitive district heard and felt.
Chuck Schumer had no comment.
