John Fetterman Just Appeared at the Republican Convention and His Own Party Lost Its Mind

The Democrats called John Fetterman a traitor back in May.

Now he just showed up at the Republican midterm convention – on video – to introduce a Republican senator.

And Democrats lost their mind when John Fetterman appeared on video at Donald Trump’s Republican Convention.

Fetterman Took the Stage in Dallas – Just Not In Person

With a Mon Valley steel mill framing the shot behind him, Fetterman delivered a one-minute video address saying he was "a common-sense Democrat" who would "always stand with America" and "reject the extremes in socialism."

Those words played on the big screen at the Republican National Committee's first-ever midterm convention in Dallas.

He was there to introduce Republican Sen. Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania – his friend, he said, from a different party.

"I have this opportunity to introduce this great American, a great senator," Fetterman said. "And yes, he's in a different party. But I'm proud to count him as my great friend."

McCormick beamed when he hit the stage.

"How great is John Fetterman?" he asked the crowd, praising Fetterman for his friendship and courage.

The Paper Trail Goes Deep

Fetterman has appeared on Fox News 56 times in 2026 – and spends most of those appearances attacking his own party.

In July, he and McCormick filed a joint fundraising committee called Common Ground PA – a bipartisan operation that splits donor money between both senators' campaigns.

He told the Washington Examiner he would "absolutely never move against" McCormick – meaning he won't campaign for whoever runs against his Republican colleague in 2030.

He backed Trump's Iran strike.

He was the only Senate Democrat who shook Trump's hand at the State of the Union – while more than 75 of his colleagues skipped the address entirely.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said publicly that Republicans would "welcome" Fetterman joining the GOP conference.

A Quinnipiac poll put his approval among Pennsylvania Republicans at 77 percent – higher than McCormick himself.

Democrats Are Losing It

The Monroe County Democrat Party called him a "TRAITOR" – in all caps – after he endorsed Ron DeSantis for a Cabinet position.

Pennsylvania Rep. Brendan Boyle called Fetterman "a disgrace" and "a lazy trust fund baby."

Bernie Sanders – who endorsed Fetterman when he first ran – told an interviewer he didn't think anyone in the Democrat caucus had a lower approval rating than Fetterman, and that going on Fox News to trash fellow Democrats was the price of getting on television.

Fetterman keeps insisting he's staying put.

He said in May he'd be "a terrible Republican who still votes overwhelmingly with Democrats."

But he also named his red line: if Democrats officially become the anti-Israel party, he walks.

In July, 103 House Democrats voted against aid to Israel.

He's watching the clock himself.

What's Actually Happening Here

Here's what Democrats won't admit: Fetterman won in 2022 because he ran as a working-class guy from Steel Country – not a coastal socialist.

The party he got elected with no longer exists.

The Democrats who control the party today would have destroyed Fetterman in a 2022 primary if he'd been honest about what he believes.

Now he's at the Republican convention, his own state party is calling him a traitor, and Bernie Sanders – a man who calls himself a socialist – says Fetterman is the worst Democrat in the building.

When your enemies cheer and your friends call you a disgrace, you're not a Democrat anymore – you just haven't signed the paperwork yet.
