He's doing something far more dangerous – he's engineering one.
According to Politico's Playbook, Biden's former chief of staff has been quietly advising Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) as Khanna "prepares for a possible 2028 presidential bid."
Klain is doing this on what he calls his "personal time," while drawing a paycheck from Airbnb as chief legal officer.
This isn't a casual political friendship.
Klain worked on eight presidential campaigns, prepping Biden, Obama, Clinton, Gore, Kerry, and Hillary Clinton for debates.
He has more Democrat presidential fingerprints on him than almost anyone alive.

When Ron Klain bets his credibility on a candidate, that's not noise – that's a machine starting its engines.
The Politico report notes his political activities since leaving Biden's orbit are "far more significant and sweeping than previously known."
He helped socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani with debate prep.
He advised Jack Schlossberg – JFK's grandson – on his congressional campaign.
He's "assisting" California Democrat gubernatorial nominee Xavier Becerra and "advising" Sen. Ed Markey on his reelection campaign.
Every single candidate in that network is hard left.
The Man Klain Is Betting On
Ro Khanna has been building toward this moment for years.
The Silicon Valley congressman was co-chair of Bernie Sanders' 2020 presidential campaign.
He has made multiple trips to New Hampshire – the traditional first-in-the-nation primary state – since 2023.
In March 2026, he told a New Hampshire TV station he would decide whether to run "after the midterm."
In April, he told Al Sharpton at the National Action Network Conference he would "consider" a presidential bid.
He currently sits 11th on betting markets behind Gavin Newsom and AOC.

Klain is trying to change that.
What Khanna actually believes is worth understanding before Democrats hand him the nomination.
In February 2026, he went on CNN and said – on camera – "we need to tear down" Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Not reform it. Not restructure it. Tear it down.
He has since introduced a 10-point resolution calling on Democrats to repeal the entire $75 billion ICE funding allocation, impeach DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, and impeach Attorney General Pam Bondi.
He also told a reporter that any Democrat who voted for the Laken Riley Act – the law named after a young Georgia woman murdered by an illegal immigrant – should be "disqualified" from leading the party.
The man who wants to be president thinks deporting criminals and honoring murder victims is disqualifying.

Ron Klain was the inside man for the progressive movement throughout the Biden years.
When the left worried Biden would govern as a moderate, Klain was their reassurance. Progressive leaders had his cell number.

The open border wasn't an accident – it was a policy, and Klain was one of the architects.
Now Klain is running the same play he ran for 2020 – building the infrastructure, lining up the talent, and selecting the candidate before the race officially starts.
His chosen candidate wants to abolish ICE, impeach Trump's cabinet, and calls protecting American citizens from criminal illegal immigrants a "disqualifier."
They're not sorry.
