On Monday, Americans all across the country attended events honoring the nearly 3,000 innocent people murdered on September 11, 2001.
But not Joe Biden.
Instead, Joe Biden made up a story about 9/11 that left the family members of the deceased fuming.
Every American President since the 9/11 attacks has commemorated that tragic day from Ground Zero in New York City, Virginia, or in Pennsylvania where the attacks occurred.
But on Monday Joe Biden became the first President to commemorate 9/11 in Alaska, where he delivered remarks at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.
Biden recently got caught lying to Hawaii residents about the severity of a fire at his home years ago.
And Biden repeated this misstep in Alaska on Monday.
“We must not succumb to the poisonous politics of difference and division, must never allow ourselves to be pulled apart attending manufactured grievances, we must continue to stand united,” Biden said. “We all have an obligation, a duty, a responsibility to defend, to preserve, to protect our democracy.”
Biden then recalled the events of that tragic day.
“Because we know that on this day, 22 years ago, [planes] from this base were scrambled on high alert to escort planes through the airspace, Alaskan communities opened their doors to stranded passengers, American flags sold out in every store and were placed in front of seemingly every home,” he said. “We know that on this day, every American’s heart was wounded, yet in every big city, small town, suburb, rural town, tribal community, American hands went up, ready to help where they could, ready to serve like so many of you here.”
Then Biden decided to tell a story about his personal experience on September 11, 2001.
“Ground Zero, New York,” Biden recalled. “I remember standing there the next day and looking at the building, and I felt like I was looking through the gates of hell – it looked so devastated because of where you could stand.”
However, there was one glaring problem with Biden’s claim.
On September 12, 2001, Joe Biden delivered a 10-minute speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate.
The first time Biden is known to have visited Ground Zero was on September 20, 2001.
Joe Biden apparently has a habit of stretching the truth or outright lying about past events.
Some believe Biden is just a compulsive liar.
But others see it as a sign of his severely declining mental abilities.
