The Democrats are dispatching with all democratic norms.
Yet they accuse Republicans of what they’re doing.
Now Biden is about to let leftists get away with an infuriating crime against the Supreme Court.
For the first time in the history of the Supreme Court, someone within the institution leaked a draft opinion well in advance of its release.
The leak was a draft opinion from Samuel Alito, which signaled the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
And the leaker, presumably a liberal clerk, is unlikely to face any legal repercussions.
The New York Times reported that “even as Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. condemned the disclosure by Politico as ‘egregious,’ he instead directed the Supreme Court marshal to lead an internal investigation. According to a person familiar with the matter, the court has not asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation or to lend the marshal support and resources . . . [I]t is far from clear that the justices want agents of the executive branch grilling their clerks and relatives and going through the computers in their chambers and the cellphones of their associates . . . And none can be sure whether the leaker, if identified, will turn out to be a liberal or a conservative.”
First, no serious person honestly believes that the leak came from a conservative, and on that remote possibility, nobody on the Right has defended the leak.
Conversely, people on the Left have deemed the leaker a hero of the republic.
For example, comedian Laurie Kilmartin appeared on MSNBC and said, “I would like to find out who the leaker is so I could make sweet love to that person because that person is a hero to me. Okay? If the leaker – a lot of people are saying it could be a conservative – if the leaker is a Republican and if I get pregnant during our lovemaking, I will joyfully abort our fetus and let them know.”
This is the type of disgusting rhetoric that has seized hold on the radical Left.
The Times also argued that the leak may not actually be a crime, but former Attorney General Bill Barr said the leaker was obstructing justice.
The leaker wanted to put undue pressure on the conservatives on the Supreme Court in order to intimidate them into flip-flopping, and that has played out with hordes of pro-abortion zealots protesting outside the homes of the Republican appointees, which is also a crime.
The leak also did irreparable damage to the trust and legitimacy of the Supreme Court.
Whoever leaked the document broke the code, and they politicized the High Court in a deeply disturbing way.
