Joe Biden thought he was on the verge of a massive victory.
He never expected this stunning betrayal.
And Joe Biden blew a gasket after a leading Democrat handed him this crushing defeat.
President Joe Biden is quietly trying to stack radical leftists in every level of government that could have vast control over Americans’ lives with the power of the federal bureaucracy.
In October 2021, Biden nominated Gigi Sohn to be the chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
The FCC regulates television, radio, and the Internet and can put the clamps down on information coming from those platforms.
The five-member commission is currently split between two Republicans and two Democrat commissioners with an open seat for chair.
The chair would set the commission’s agenda and have the tie-breaking vote.
Sohn is one of the most extreme left-wingers that Biden has tried to place in the federal government.
She was an FCC attorney under former President Barack Obama with ties to George Soros and has publicly called for conservative media to be censored.
On social media, Sohn claimed that Fox News is state-sponsored propaganda and that it “has had the most negative impact for our Democracy.”
She called for a hearing into Fox and as chair of the FCC she would have had the power to target the network.
Sohn previously called for the FCC to look at pulling the federal broadcast license of the conservative leaning Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns scores of local affiliates for major broadcast networks.
When Democrats gained a Senate seat after last year’s Midterm Elections to boost their majority, Biden hoped that her nomination could be rammed through.
But instead Gigi Sohn just waived the white flag of surrender and withdrew her name for consideration to be the next FCC chair.
Her nomination was sunk when Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) turned on Biden and announced that he wouldn’t support her.
“Especially now, the FCC must remain above the toxic partisanship that Americans are sick and tired of, and Ms. Sohn has clearly shown she is not the person to do that,” Manchin said. “For those reasons, I cannot support her nomination to the FCC, and I urge the Biden administration to put forth a nominee who can bring us together, not drive us apart.”
This a crushing defeat for Biden who was poised to install an FCC chair with extreme bias against conservative media.
Sohn blamed “unrelenting, dishonest and cruel attacks” from lobbyists in the media industry.
She whined that the attacks, which pointed out her own past statements, took an “enormous toll” on her.
With the FCC still deadlocked between Republican and Democrat commissioners, any left-wing regulatory changes are dead on arrival.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called Sohn’s withdrawal a “major victory.”
“The FCC is not a place for partisan activists; free speech is too important,” Cruz said.
The withdrawal of Gigi Sohn for FCC is a major setback for Joe Biden in his quest to censor conservatives.
