Once again, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had to backpedal on something Joe Biden said.
Psaki seems to be correcting almost everything the President says these days.
And this time Jen Psaki melted down again when asked this simple question by a Fox News reporter.
During a press briefing, Fox News correspondent Kristin Fisher asked Psaki to explain the flip-flop from the Biden administration on the topic of the refugee cap left in place by Donald Trump.
The Biden administration released a memo stating it would keep the 15,000 number cap set by former President Donald Trump.
Within hours Biden was changing his tune.
Radical leftists in Congress like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) ripped Biden for breaking his promise to raise the number of refugees admitted in his year to 62,500.
That’s all it took, and the Biden administration did an about-face and released a new memo stating they would lift the Trump-era refugee cap by May 15.
Not surprisingly, people wanted answers and for the White House to clarify if the only reason Biden caved was because of the squeaky wheel AOC.
Fox News’ Kristin Fisher asked Psaki if the pushback from the Left forced Biden to give in.
“I’m still just a little bit confused about what changed between 1 p.m. on Friday and 4:30 p.m. on Friday to go from ‘We’re not raising the refugee cap,’ to ‘We are raising it by May 15. What changed in those three-and-a-half hours?” Fisher asked Psaki.
Psaki gave one of her non-answers, stating that there was a caveat in the original memo that maybe the cap could be lifted at some point in the future.
“We never said we’re not raising the refugee cap. In the morning we said, actually, with the information we put out, once we reach 15,000, we will raise it. That was not accounted for,” Psaki said.
Fisher pressed Psaki to answer whether or not the change happened because Democrats on Capitol Hill were angry.
Psaki claimed there was no change in policy, which was a blatant lie.
Then Psaki went on to demand Fisher explain the policy change. Fisher shot back that it wasn’t her job to explain that as she’s not a member of the administration.
Like the rest of the Biden administration, Jen Psaki is accustomed to softball questions from friendly liberal reporters, so when someone throws something at her that she has no logical explanation for, she seems to resort to yelling and melting down.
