Harjinder Singh failed his commercial driver's license test ten times in two months – and California gave him a truck anyway.
Now three people are dead on a Florida highway.
And what JD Vance revealed Monday about who Biden handed those licenses to – and how many of them are still out there – will make your blood boil.
Biden's Transportation Secretary Made It Harder to Enforce English Rules
English proficiency has been a federal requirement for commercial truck drivers for decades – and Joe Biden's DOT spent four years making sure nobody enforced it.
Vance explained Monday that Biden's transportation secretary "actually made it harder for state governments to enforce the rules, to ensure that if you were driving a big truck on America's roads, you had to actually read and write and understand the English language."
That's not a policy disagreement.
That's a federal official deliberately gutting a safety standard that existed to keep 80,000-pound trucks from killing people.

Harjinder Singh crossed the border illegally in 2018.
He failed his CDL knowledge exam ten times between March and May 2023.
He failed his air brakes test twice.
His Washington state driving school certified that he could speak English – even though he barely could.
Washington issued him a CDL anyway.
California gave him another one.
On August 12, 2025, Singh made an illegal U-turn on Florida's Turnpike and killed three people.
That is what Biden's enforcement flexibility looked like in practice.
Sean Duffy Just Shut Down 270 Schools That Were Running the Same Scam
Singh was the product of a system.
Federal investigators audited 400 commercial driving schools and discovered that 40% had no business certifying anyone – no adequate space for behind-the-wheel training, no proper facilities, and in some cases instructors who didn't hold CDLs themselves.
Some had parking lots too small to fit a semi-truck.
Some had no classrooms at all.
The other 110 schools were a different category of fraud – they certified 5,000 drivers who had already failed English proficiency tests and sent them onto American highways anyway.
They knew the rule.
They ignored it.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced emergency executive shutdowns for all 270 on Monday in Detroit, alongside DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin and federal prosecutors.
Duffy named the number that matters: 239 Americans killed on U.S. roadways in crashes correlated with non-English-proficient drivers since DOT began investigating the issue.
Two hundred and thirty-nine.
The broader cleanup is even bigger – since Trump took office, the administration has removed 28,000 CDL holders from service for English proficiency violations and clawed back more than 30,000 licenses that blue states never should have issued in the first place.
American Truckers Lost Jobs to Drivers Who Couldn't Read the Signs
Vance didn't deliver a complicated policy argument Monday.
He said the quiet part clearly: "I don't know about you, but with my kids driving around, I don't want a person who can't even read the road signs to have a CDL in the United States of America."
That's the safety case – and it's also an economic one.
Every CDL handed to an unqualified illegal immigrant is a job taken from an American trucker who passed the test, paid for the training, and spent months away from his family to earn that license the right way.
Vance honored those truckers by name Monday – the people keeping shelves stocked, keeping gasoline at the pump, working their fingers to the bone while Biden's DOT was certifying their replacements through sham schools.
Road signs are in English.
Weigh station instructions are in English.
HAZMAT placards are in English.
Dispatcher communications are in English.
A driver who can't read English doesn't just carry a personal risk – they carry that risk at 80,000 pounds, on highways where families are driving minivans.
Biden's team knew all of this and chose open borders over road safety anyway.
They shielded California and Washington when those states issued CDLs to illegal immigrants who failed English tests, and punished states only when Trump started pulling federal funding – $73 million stripped from New York alone for refusing to comply.
California is still fighting the enforcement.
The same California whose CDL policy put Harjinder Singh behind the wheel of a semi-truck the day he killed three people.
Sean Duffy didn't write a new rule Monday.
He just enforced the one that was already there – the one Biden's people spent four years making sure nobody touched.
