Your Medicare dollars were being stolen at a 7,100 percent clip – and Biden called the fraud report "not plausible."
Now JD Vance just sat down with 20 members of Congress at the White House to do something about it.
What came out of that meeting has fraudsters across the country looking for the exits.
The Fraud Was Always There. Biden Just Looked the Other Way.
Someone billed Medicare $200 million for skin substitutes in 2019.
By 2025 that number had exploded to $14.4 billion – a 7,100 percent spike in six years.
When Dr. Mehmet Oz and VP Vance finally sat down in Milwaukee and started checking the paperwork, 96 percent of the claims couldn't survive basic scrutiny.
Think about that number.
Ninety-six percent.
Not a few bad actors. Not a rogue billing department. A systematic looting of Medicare that ran unchecked for years – while your premiums kept climbing and your benefits kept shrinking.
The task force has already stopped nearly $220 million in fraudulent skin substitute claims.
It has suspended or revoked billing privileges for more than 800 suppliers who were billing for equipment that was never ordered, never needed, and sometimes never existed.
"That's a lot of money," Oz said in Milwaukee. "And that bankrupts not just hospital systems and physician groups, but it causes major problems across the entire landscape."
He wasn't exaggerating.
Vance Is Now Bringing Congress Into the Fight
On Wednesday morning, roughly 20 members from both chambers showed up at the White House for a fraud task force meeting with Vance.
The agenda wasn't ceremonial.
Vance detailed how each member can target fraud in their specific states and districts.
The White House confirmed the task force is actively pursuing legislative action – meaning the crackdown isn't just executive orders and press conferences.
Congress is being deputized to hunt fraudsters in their own backyards.
"Our task force is using every tool at its disposal to end fraud once and for all," a White House official told Fox News Digital. "Congress has an important role to play in cracking down on fraudsters and protecting federal programs from abuse."
At the same time the White House meeting was happening, the DOJ announced it was expanding its Northeast Health Care Fraud Strike Force into Philadelphia – charging 19 defendants tied to more than $4 million in Medicare and Medicaid home healthcare schemes.
Pennsylvania AG Dave Sunday had already announced a plea deal closing out a 21-defendant case connected to $1.7 million in fraudulent claims just days earlier.
The task force has now withheld more than $1.4 billion in federal funding to suspicious home health and hospice providers nationwide.
This Is What Happens When Someone Is Actually in Charge
The GAO estimated in 2024 that the federal government loses between $233 billion and $521 billion every year to fraud.
The Biden administration's official response to that report?
They called it "not plausible."
Biden's team didn't investigate. Didn't hold hearings. Didn't suspend a single payment to a suspicious provider.
They labeled the number inconvenient and moved on.
Trump created the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud by executive order on March 16 and put Vance in charge.
In the months since, the task force has referred over $22 billion in fraudulent small business loans to Treasury for collection, shut down the largest autism fraud scheme ever charged by the federal government in Minnesota, and is now embedding Congress members as active fraud hunters in their home districts.
Trump said it plainly on Truth Social in June.
"Billions of Dollars is being found, and we've just started!" he wrote.
The fraudsters had years of Biden cover.
That cover is gone.
