Donald Trump's border crackdown is delivering results Democrats spent four years claiming were impossible.
Now the Left is scrambling to explain away their failure.
And Jasmine Crockett just denied this fact that has Democrats panicking.
Trump makes Biden's border disaster disappear in months
The numbers don't lie, even when Democrats do.
Trump closed out fiscal year 2025 with 237,565 southwest border apprehensions — the lowest since 1970.¹
For context, Biden averaged 160,000 monthly encounters during his catastrophic four-year border collapse.²
But Texas Democrat Jasmine Crockett — who just announced she's running for Senate — looked NBC's cameras dead in the eye this week and claimed she doesn't believe the Trump administration's border numbers are accurate.
"I will acknowledge that what is being reported is that border encounters are lower," Crockett told NBC News. "I will also say that we know that this administration has not been the most honest when it comes to reporting numbers."³
That's rich coming from someone who served through Biden's four-year border disaster where more than 10.3 million illegal aliens flooded across the southern border — with roughly two million known "gotaways" evading capture entirely.⁴
The White House wasn't having it.
Spokeswoman Abigail Jackson fired back: "This is a bizarre conspiracy theory from a woman who couldn't even properly read the FEC website before telling lies on the House floor. It's a fact that the border is the most secure in history, and dangerous criminal illegal aliens are being deported thanks to President Trump's policies."⁵
Crockett's pattern of dismissing border reality
This isn't the first time Crockett has minimized the border crisis or insulted Trump's enforcement efforts.
Back in September, she compared ICE agents to "slave patrols" during an MSNBC interview, drawing immediate backlash from law enforcement and the Trump administration.⁶
"As somebody who understands history, when I see ICE, I see slave patrols," Crockett declared on MSNBC's Velshi.⁷
During that same media tour, she infamously referred to 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton — who was sexually assaulted and strangled to death by an MS-13 gang member who entered the country illegally — as a "random dead person" during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.⁸
Now Crockett is suggesting Trump is cooking the books on border numbers, despite overwhelming evidence his policies are working exactly as promised.
In just the first 11 days after Trump took office in January 2025, Border Patrol apprehensions dropped 85% compared to the same period in 2024.⁹
Encounters at ports of entry along the Southwest border dropped 93% during that same period.¹⁰
By July 2025, the daily average of border apprehensions fell to just 148 per day — lower than the rate of 152 apprehensions Biden saw every two hours last July.¹¹
Democrats suddenly can't explain what changed
Crockett told NBC that what America needs is "comprehensive immigration reform" and complained that Trump "has not worked through Congress."¹²
Translation: Democrats want amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, and they're furious Trump proved you don't need new laws to secure the border — you just need a President willing to enforce the ones already on the books.
Trump reinstated Remain in Mexico, ended catch-and-release, shut down Biden's fraudulent CBP One app, restarted border wall construction, and designated cartels and gangs as Foreign Terrorist Organizations.¹³
All of that happened through executive action, not legislation — the same way Biden destroyed border security on day one of his Presidency by reversing Trump's successful policies.
The daily average of known gotaways has decreased 93% compared to the peak of the Biden administration.¹⁴
Trump's first 100 days saw more than 151,000 illegal alien arrests and over 135,000 deportations — already surpassing Biden's entire fiscal year 2024 total.¹⁵
The political calculation behind Crockett's denial
Crockett knows she's in trouble.
She's running for Senate in Texas — where Trump won by double digits and where border security is the number one issue for voters.
She can't admit Trump's policies are working because that would vindicate everything conservatives said about Biden's open borders disaster.
So instead, she's playing the oldest card in the Democrat playbook: deny reality and accuse Republicans of lying.
The problem is, Texans can see what's happening with their own eyes.
Construction crews working on border wall.
Illegal aliens turning around at the border instead of flooding across.
ICE making arrests and conducting deportations instead of releasing criminals into American communities.
Crockett's conspiracy theory that Trump is fabricating border numbers isn't going to fly with voters who spent four years watching Biden allow millions of illegal aliens to pour across the southern border unchecked.
Democrats like Crockett are stuck defending the indefensible — a four-year border catastrophe that endangered American communities, enriched cartels, and made a mockery of immigration law.
Now that Trump has proven border security was always achievable, all they have left is denial.
