Anthony Fauci told Congress he had nothing to do with closing schools.
His own diary proved he personally called the mayors who closed them.
Now someone made sure that diary never reached Congress – and James Comer just figured out who.
The Cover-Up That Kept Fauci Safe for Three Years
House Oversight Chairman James Comer sent a letter Monday to former Biden HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra demanding answers to a simple question: why did you hide Anthony Fauci's COVID diary from Congress?
In November 2023, House Republicans formally requested every document from Fauci containing the words "COVID-19," "gain-of-function," and "Wuhan."
Becerra's HHS responded to that request.
The diary wasn't in it.

"These terms, among others outlined in the document request, appear throughout Dr. Fauci's diary," Comer wrote to Becerra. "Despite the existence of this clearly relevant and responsive information, you failed to include any portion of Dr. Fauci's diary in your response, let alone even acknowledge its existence."
That diary – over 1,000 pages of entries Fauci wrote on government computers between 2019 and 2022 – didn't surface until RFK Jr. took over HHS and handed it directly to Sens. Rand Paul and Ron Johnson earlier this year.
What the Diary Actually Says
Here's why Biden's team needed that diary buried.
On March 15, 2020, Fauci wrote that he personally called New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and convinced him to close New York City schools – and called Gavin Newsom's chief of staff that same night, after which Newsom shut down California schools too.
More than 7 million children were kept out of school for a year or longer as a direct result of those calls.
Fauci spent the next two years lying about it.
In October 2022, he told ABC News: "I did not close the schools. They always come back and say, 'Fauci was responsible for shutting schools down.' I had nothing to do with it."
He said it again in 2024 before the House Oversight Committee: "I did not close the schools."
His own diary – written in his own words on government-issued computers – said the exact opposite.
And Becerra's HHS made sure Congress never saw it.
The Pattern Comer Can Now Prove
This isn't the first time Biden's team buried COVID records.
Becerra's HHS refused document requests from Congress going back to June 2021 – stonewalling Sen. Ron Johnson's records request for three full years.
On the same day Comer's letter dropped, former Fauci advisor David Morens pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges for concealing COVID records from Freedom of Information Act requests.
Morens faces up to five years in prison.
The DOJ proved Morens used his personal Gmail account to hide government communications and worked to suppress the narrative that COVID came from the Wuhan lab.
Comer is now asking Becerra three pointed questions: Did you know the diary existed? Why wasn't it produced? Did any Biden official pressure you to withhold it?
Becerra has until September 2 to answer.
He's currently running for governor of California.
The timing couldn't be worse for his campaign – or better for Comer's investigation.
The Accountability Is Just Getting Started
The Biden White House spent years calling COVID accountability "political theater."
They said Republicans were just harassing scientists.
Now Fauci's own advisor is a convicted felon.
Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment over 100 times before the Senate last month – refusing to answer basic questions about a pandemic that killed more than a million Americans and destroyed a generation of kids who never got those school years back.

Biden pardoned Fauci on his way out the door.
That pardon covers what Fauci did.
It doesn't cover what Becerra did to hide it – and it doesn't explain why a diary full of confessions sat inside HHS servers for three years while Congress was told it didn't exist.
Comer isn't done.
Neither is Rand Paul.
Neither is RFK Jr.
The only question left is whether Becerra answers voluntarily or gets subpoenaed before he makes it to Sacramento.
