Jeffries sat down with Jared Kushner – the architect of the Abraham Accords, the man who sat in on Russia-Ukraine ceasefire negotiations – to find common ground on housing, immigration, and living costs.

James Carville built the Clinton machine.
He's been the loudest voice in the Democrat Party telling everyone to hold the line, resist everything, and treat Republicans like adversaries – not partners.
This summer, Carville said flatly that Democrats must treat Republicans as the "adversary," not the "partner."
Now his own House leader had done exactly the opposite in private.
Carville didn't hold back.
"These people are a pack of felons and traitors," he said, "and you do not meet with them. You do not meet with them."
His suggested alternative was not subtle: "We need to drag his a– before a committee and find out what backdoor-dealing, w—-house s— he's got going on."
That's the Carville who has spent 2026 promising total war against the people Jeffries just sat down with.

He sat in on negotiations to end a land war in Europe.
He operates at a level most career politicians never reach – and did all of it without a formal White House title.
Jeffries needed the meeting.
Democrats are favored to flip the House in November, which would put Jeffries in line for Speaker.
And his first move toward governing was to quietly reach out to the man his party has spent two years demonizing – because he knows that if Democrats win, they'll need to actually pass things.
He knows Kushner gets things done.
He just couldn't say that publicly.
Carville Exposed the Real Problem Heading Into November
Jeffries is now defending the meeting while his own base demands answers.
PR expert Jason Mudd put the tactical failure plainly: "Jeffries got caught being reasonable in private without being strategic in public."
That's the polite version.
The real version: Jeffries knows Kushner is someone worth talking to.

And Jared Kushner is sitting in Manhattan, having just proven that even the opposition comes to the table eventually.
Trump's team didn't go to them.
