Maiden United transforms Adele’s biggest hit into pure metal mayhem
When you think of Iron Maiden, the last thing that comes to mind is covering pop ballads.
The legendary British metal band built their reputation on galloping bass lines, soaring vocals, and epic tales of war and mythology.
So when Los Angeles tribute band Maiden United announced they were covering Adele’s Skyfall, many fans probably scratched their heads in confusion.
But the band’s founder Rich Abronson knew exactly what he was doing.
"The idea to reimagine Skyfall was born from a group brainstorm about how to do something that other tribute bands haven’t," Abronson explained in a recent press release.
The gamble appears to have paid off in a big way.
Maiden United just released their new EP Agent 666 featuring the heavy metal transformation of the 2012 James Bond theme song that topped charts worldwide.
The band’s bassist Danny Knapp produced the blistering reinterpretation that maintains all the drama of Adele’s original while cranking up the intensity to eleven.
"Skyfall has all the ingredients to be a metal song: drama, complexity, and cool, musical changes," Knapp noted.

What makes this cover so brilliant is how it connects three pillars of British entertainment.
Iron Maiden stands as arguably the greatest British metal band of all time with classics like The Trooper and Run to the Hills.
James Bond remains one of the most famous British characters in cinematic history.
And Adele ranks among the most iconic modern British vocalists with her powerhouse voice.
"We wanted to maintain a UK pop-culture theme," Knapp explained about the creative decision behind the unlikely mashup.
The timing couldn’t be better for Maiden United to make their mark.
Founded in 2021 as the music scene emerged from the pandemic lockdowns, the Los Angeles-based group has quickly established themselves as the West Coast’s premier Iron Maiden tribute.
Their repertoire spans over three hours of material including faithful renditions of metal classics like 2 Minutes to Midnight and Wasted Years.
Scottish vocalist Paul Duncan brings an authentic touch to the performances with a style that channels all three Iron Maiden singers – Paul Di’Anno, Bruce Dickinson, and Blaze Bayley.

Agent 666 proves that Maiden United isn’t content to simply play the same setlist every night.
The EP includes more than just their audacious Skyfall cover.
