ICE just arrested 3,800 people in Minneapolis – including child sex offenders, domestic abusers, and gang members.
Now Ilhan Omar wants to take the money that paid for those arrests and hand it to the communities that sheltered them.
Her new bill does exactly that – and Jim Banks just called it un-American on the Senate floor.

That's not a misprint.
One hundred and forty billion dollars – stripped from the agency that arrested pedophiles and gang members in her own district – handed to nonprofits, local governments, and what Omar calls "community recovery efforts."
The bill would be administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and fund schools, healthcare, "psychological services," and – remarkably – "memorialization efforts" for communities where ICE operated.
Omar claims Operation Metro Surge alone cost Minneapolis nearly $700 million and says ICE owes that back.
She's not describing law enforcement accountability.
She's describing a reparations program for illegal immigrants.
What ICE Actually Found in Minneapolis
Operation Metro Surge – the operation she's now trying to bill taxpayers for – arrested drug traffickers, domestic abusers, child sex offenders, and violent gang members across her district.
Those are the people Omar is calling victims.
And she wants to compensate them by defunding the agency that removed them.

Senator Jim Banks didn't mince words: "This bill is un-American. This bill defunds law enforcement and gives their funding to the communities harboring criminal illegal aliens. Democrats fight for everyone except the American people."
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders was just as direct: "Defund ICE. Weaken the border. Then expect safer communities? That math isn't mathing."
The Investigation Omar Doesn't Want to Talk About
While Omar was drafting legislation to defund ICE, Tom Homan confirmed that DHS is running an active criminal investigation involving Omar herself – specifically, long-standing allegations of immigration and marriage fraud.
"I'm confirming that ICE is, yeah – look, I said months ago that there's something that's been reported and needs to be looked at," Homan told Fox News.
He made the stakes plain: "If someone committed an immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they're a congressman or not, no one's above the law."
In a recent interview, Markwayne Mullin echoed Homan’s words about Omar.
"There may be more to this, the whole family migration and possibly some illegal activity for them to come to the United States to begin with. … If we can prove it, that you shouldn't have been here in the first place, we will deport you," Mullin said
A sitting congresswoman personally under federal investigation for immigration fraud just introduced a bill to defund the agency investigating immigration fraud.
Omar dismissed the allegations as "bigoted lies" and said Trump is obsessed with her.
"The right wing has always had this s— going, so I don't really worry about it," Omar said about the allegations.
Homan declined to comment on the specifics.

This bill has no chance of passing as long as Republicans control Congress and the White House – and Omar almost certainly knows that.
This isn't legislation.
It's a fundraising signal to the open-borders left that she's still willing to go further than anyone else.
Because that's what you do when the walls are closing in: make noise, play victim, and hand your base something to cheer about.
Meanwhile, the child sex offenders ICE removed from Minneapolis are gone.
And Ilhan Omar wants the bill.
