A sniper assassinated Charlie Kirk in front of 3,000 people at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.
Less than a year later, a man in a Mao suit stood on a San Francisco stage and led a screaming audience in a singalong designed to mock him.
And Democrats have been campaigning for six months with the man who led a crowd in mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination tribute.
What Happened on That Stage
Piker took the microphone at the Golden Gate Theatre on August 22, dressed in the grey Maoist jacket that has become his political uniform.
He sang the words: "We are Charlie Kirk, we carry the flame."
The crowd screamed with delight.
His co-hosts laughed.
One waved a lit cellphone over his head like he was at a revival.
The song – "We Are Charlie Kirk" – was released in the days after Kirk's assassination, written as a Christian power ballad in his honor.

The lyrics include lines like "He spoke the truth when the cost was high / He lived for Jesus, unafraid to die."
Piker's crowd used those words as a punchline.
When Piker finished, he told the audience it was "the most surreal moment in my entire life."
He later posted a photo from the Seattle stop of the same tour captioned "carried the flame again in seattle tn" – a direct line from the tribute song.
He was proud enough to post it twice.
The Democrat Party Chose This Man
This is not a fringe streamer Democrats quietly tolerate.
Piker commands 14 million monthly Twitch viewers, and Democrat candidates have been lining up to stand next to him.
AOC appeared with him.
Ilhan Omar appeared with him.
Rashida Tlaib, Ro Khanna, and New York City politician Zohran Mamdani all appeared with him.
Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed campaigned with Piker at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University – and defended it afterward.
"Because you appear with somebody doesn't mean you agree with them on everything," El-Sayed told Fox News.
He used that line before the San Francisco stage.
He will have to answer for it now.
Even Democrats who aren't running radical campaigns understand how bad this looks.

John Fetterman dared El-Sayed directly to "continue to campaign with people like Hasan Piker."
James Carville threatened to leave the Democrat Party entirely if Piker remained in it.
Illinois Democrat Rep. Brad Schneider called Piker "an unapologetic antisemite" and warned that Democrats were destroying their credibility by platforming him.
None of it worked.
Because the socialist wing of the party has decided Piker is their future.
The Man They Chose to Celebrate
Here is what Piker told America before this weekend.
He said America "deserved" 9/11.
He excused the October 7 Hamas massacre.
He traveled to Cuba to protest Trump's sanctions against a communist dictatorship.
He called communism the "final goal" of socialism on camera.
And when reporter Chuck Ross noted that Piker had been scheduled to debate Kirk just days after the assassination – and that Piker himself had admitted the shooting "shook him" – Ross summarized it cleanly on X: "He's just a trash human being."
Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley watched the video and said the most disturbing part wasn't Piker.
It was the crowd.
Turley wrote that what shocked him was "the ecstasy of the crowd in relishing the death of someone with opposing views."

They bought tickets to be there.
They are the voters Democratic candidates are now chasing.
What This Tells You About the Left
The Left has been working for years to make political violence feel normal when it's aimed in the right direction.
Charlie Kirk was assassinated in broad daylight in front of thousands of witnesses, and accused shooter Tyler James Robinson is facing ten criminal counts.
Kirk was 31 years old.
He built Turning Point USA as a teenager, became Trump's ally, and debated socialists like Piker on camera – then gave him a friendly fist bump afterward, because that's the kind of man Kirk was.
Two weeks before the one-year anniversary of his death, Piker is leading sold-out crowds in mocking the tribute song written to honor him.
Piker defended it by reposting someone who accused conservatives of "celebrating the murder of American citizens."
Nobody explained what murder he was referring to.
Nobody could.
Because that's how this works: they do something evil, they get caught, and they immediately claim their critics are worse.
Ask every Democrat candidate on the ballot this fall if they stand with what happened on that San Francisco stage.
Make them answer.
