Gavin Newsom's own party spent years calling you heartless, cruel, and bigoted for saying exactly what he said out loud on Thursday.

Now the 2028 Democrat frontrunner is saying it himself.

And Gavin Newsom is hoping you forget who kept the tent cities standing.

Newsom has been California's governor since 2019. He was San Francisco's mayor before that.

He presided over every single year this catastrophe metastasized.

California spent $24 billion on homelessness programs between 2019 and 2023 – Newsom's own years in office.

The Heritage Foundation reported that with 187,000 residents homeless, California leads the nation not in solutions but in expensive failures.

A state audit confirmed the government had no idea where the money was going. No tracking. No accountability. No results.

Newsom went on Scott Galloway's podcast and described the "permissiveness" that let tent cities take over streets and sidewalks.

He called it a failure of leadership.

He said Democrats applied a "victim mindset" that paralyzed local government.

He's right.

And he was in charge the entire time.

The Admission That Should End His Presidential Campaign Before It Starts

Here's what Newsom actually said about his own party: "We're perceived, rightfully, as too slow, weak, and ineffective."

That word "rightfully" is doing all the work.

He's not saying Republicans attacked Democrats unfairly.

He's confirming that the voters who punished them at the ballot box were correct.

He said he was "slow" to understand how much COVID destroyed Americans' trust in government.

He called it a "tonal" failure. He said he hadn't changed "to the degree that I should."

That's a man running for president on the argument that he finally figured out he was wrong – and hoping you forget he was the one who was wrong.

Rahm Emanuel already called the Democrat brand "weak, woke, and toxic."

John Fetterman said Democrats need to get their act together or become a permanent minority.

Tim Walz said the party needs to "be better organized."

Newsom himself told Politico the "essence of the challenge to the party is weakness."

Every major Democrat is now repeating what Trump voters have been saying for a decade.

The difference is they want a trophy for admitting it.

Karen Bass was Los Angeles mayor while tent cities swallowed the city's sidewalks.

She is the face of the "victim mindset" Newsom just described on that podcast – a Democrat who ran the country's second-largest city while it became the national symbol of progressive governance collapsing under its own weight.

Newsom won't say her name.

He wants credit for diagnosing the disease without naming the people who spread it – because those people are his political allies, his fundraisers, his base.

That's the real story here.

He's not having an awakening.

He's doing what every failed executive does before a presidential run – getting out in front of the blame so it lands on "the party" instead of on him.

He was governor the whole time.

The audit confirmed nobody tracked where the money went.

And California still leads the nation in homeless residents.

Now Gavin Newsom wants to be president.

The people who stepped over bodies on the way to work knew the whole time.
