TSA agents are sleeping in their cars because Chuck Schumer won't pass a funding bill.
Now Elon Musk just did what Congress refuses to do.
And the only Democrat willing to say thank you is the one his own party already hates.
Democrats Have Blocked TSA Shutdown Funding Five Times
Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats have voted down DHS funding five separate times since February 14.
Not because they want TSA agents to suffer.
Because they're holding airport security hostage until Republicans agree to gut Trump's immigration enforcement operations.
Meanwhile, 50,000 TSA officers are working without pay.
Over 370 have quit outright since the shutdown began – each replacement requiring four to six months to train and certify.
Callout rates hit 55% at Houston's Hobby Airport on a single day in March.
Three-hour security lines are now the norm in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Houston, and New York.
The DHS itself has warned that small airports could be forced to shut down entirely if the bleeding doesn't stop.
This is the Democrats' shutdown.
The Department of Homeland Security's own website says so: "Democrats' Reckless DHS Shutdown."
Elon Musk Steps In as TSA Workers Go Unpaid
On Saturday morning, Elon Musk posted a straightforward offer on X.
"I would like to offer to pay the salaries of TSA personnel during this funding impasse that is negatively affecting the lives of so many Americans at airports throughout the country."

The world's richest man was offering to personally cover the paychecks Congress abandoned.
Senator Rick Scott responded immediately: "Thank you, @elonmusk for stepping up to help hardworking TSA personnel while Democrats refuse to pay them."
The lone Democrat who agreed?
John Fetterman – the only Senate Democrat to vote with Republicans to fund DHS – called Musk's offer "incredibly generous" and noted that TSA agents are now relying on food pantries just to eat.
"It should never come to this point," Fetterman said.
He's right. And his own party is the reason it did.

TSA agents earn between $34,500 and $55,000 a year.
They cannot work a second job during a shutdown – they are required to report in uniform every day regardless of whether Washington sends a check.
One Pittsburgh union president told reporters some of his officers are sleeping in their cars.

Another has been evicted.
These are not overpaid bureaucrats gaming the system.
These are the people standing between your family and a bomb on a commercial flight.
Democrats made the calculated decision that driving these workers into financial ruin was an acceptable price for extracting ICE reform concessions from the White House.
That's the trade they made – and this is the third shutdown in six months hitting the same workers.
Democrats Built the Law That Makes the TSA Staffing Crisis Unfixable
Here's the part nobody's saying out loud.
There's one reason Musk's offer might not work: federal law prohibits government employees from receiving outside compensation tied to their official duties.
The only legal way to pay TSA agents is through the congressional appropriations process.
The same process Democrats have blocked five times.
Schumer and his caucus spent six weeks insisting they desperately want TSA agents to get paid – and they also control the one mechanism that could make it happen.
They own the shutdown and the law that makes the shutdown inescapable.

That's a trap Democrats designed, whether they knew it or not, and 50,000 Americans are living inside it right now.

The only senator who could actually end this – John Fetterman – already voted the right way and got nothing but contempt from his own party for it.
