Republican Senator credits Elon Musk for killing bad spending bill
RINO Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Democrats thought they had all their ducks in a row to ram through a 1,547-page spending bill right before Christmas to keep the government funded through March.
Members of Congress didn’t have time to read the bill before they voted on it.
There was a very good reason that Johnson and Democrats set it up that way.
It included the first pay raise for Congress since 2009, funded censorship through the State Department, and delivered on every Democrat spending priority.
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk sounded the alarm on the bill on social media platform X and built the momentum that helped kill it.
President-elect Donald Trump came out in opposition to the bill, which sealed its fate.
U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) credited Musk with helping expose the bad parts of the spending bill during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union.
Host Dana Bash noted that Musk played an influential role in opposing the bill and tried to claim that he spurred Trump into opposing it.
The media is trying its hardest to drive a wedge between Musk and Trump.
“I say thank God Elon Musk bought Twitter because that’s the only way we would even know what’s in this bill otherwise,” Hagerty said. “The conspiracy between the government and Twitter would have continued, and this would have all been covered up.”
He pointed out that Musk’s opposition created grassroots pressure against the bill, which resulted in Congress getting flooded with phone calls in opposition.
“The fact is that Elon Musk exposing this meant that every one of our offices was inundated with calls from our constituents,” Hagerty explained. “The American public wanted to see this change. Donald Trump was speaking on behalf of the American public. Again, he’s just the President-elect. The current President is AWOL.”
Elon Musk shined a bright spotlight on the bad bill
Musk with his ability to use X as a megaphone was able to draw attention to the last-minute backroom deal.
“The calls, at least that I got in my office, Elon Musk’s transparency helped make that happen,” Hagerty stated.
Bash tried to claim that people were only giving Musk credit for exposing the bad parts of the spending bill.
“No, I’m not saying it was only Elon Musk,” Hagerty said. “We’re all struggling to read it to digest an over 1500-page bill that we were literally given just hours to comb through. I was working through it. My staff didn’t sleep the night before. It’s extraordinarily frustrating.”
“I think the added weight of the American public understanding and simple picture that Elon Musk put forward showing the size of the stack of what we originally presented, we started out with over 1500 pages,” Hagerty continued. “We got it down to 120 pages.”
Taxpayers were still stuck with a bad bill after the 1,500-page one was killed, but they managed to shoot down some of its worst elements because of Elon Musk sounding the alarm.
