Dr. Anthony Fauci thought he had us conned.
But that idea blew up in his face when Republicans got their hands on his old email.
And what they revealed will confirm your worst fears.
Fauci was already caught lying when he denied that the Wuhan lab in China was conducting controversial gain-of-function research.
The National Institutes of Health later confirmed that agency had indeed illegally funded the research in Wuhan which involves developing viruses that can spread faster and are more lethal.
Once caught in that lie, Fauci tried to downplay the US’s involvement.
“So in a very minor collaboration as part of a sub-contract of a grant, we had a collaboration with some Chinese commu… uh, Chinese scientists. And what he conflated with that is that we were involved in creating the virus, which is the most ridiculous majestic leap I’ve ever heard of,” he said during an interview with Polifact.
But it turns out members of his own research team didn’t think it was a leap at all.
An email exchange that was just released proves top experts are more than a little nervous we’re all living through a pandemic they created.
In fact, that’s exactly what was being debated during an email exchange on February 1, 2020.
Based on the subject line which read, “Teleconference” the scientists were apparently scheduling a time to talk about whether they turned loose the virus that was beginning to wreak havoc on the world.
Mike Farzan, who discovered the SARS receptor, put the odds of a lab leak versus natural occurrence at “70:30 or 60:40” odds.
Bob Garry described the research he did at the lab and said, “I really can’t think of a plausible natural scenario where you get from the bat virus or one very similar to it to nCoV where you insert exactly 4 amino acids 12 nucleotide that all have to be added at the exact same time to gain this function – that and you don’t change any other amino acid in S2? I just can’t figure out how this gets accomplished in nature.”
Another email sent the next day from Francis Collins seems to signal the beginning of a cover up.
“I am coming around to the view that a natural origin is more likely. But I share your view that a swift convening of experts in a confidence inspiring framework (WHO seems really the only option) is needed, or the voices of conspiracy will quickly dominate, doing great potential harm to science and international harmony…”
In an email following the teleconference Dr. Ron Fouchier wrote, “… An accusation that nCoV-2019 might have been engineered and released into the environment by humans (accidental or intentional) would need to be supported by strong data, beyond a reasonable doubt. It is good that this possibility was discussed in detail with a team of experts. However, further debate about such accusations would unnecessarily distract top researchers from their active duties and do unnecessary harm to science in general and science in China in particular.”
It’s abundantly clear that, according to this crowd, protecting science is a higher priority than protecting humans.
Emails in the following months focused on how to cover up what might have happened.
In April, Collins asked if there is anything, “NIH can do to help put down this very destructive conspiracy.”
He had hoped the article in Nature Medicine would have done the trick.
Then we finally get a message sent from Dr. Fauci himself, “I would not do anything about this right now. It is a shiny object that will go away in times.”
Considering the damage, that’s not likely to happen.
So far, the toll from Covid-19 amounts to more than five and a half million deaths, more than 317 billion illnesses, and two years of lost education for children.
At this point it’s impossible to calculate the economic impact, but as of this time last year it was probably somewhere around $10 trillion plus ongoing inflation from the fallout.
Then there’s everything priceless that was lost: seniors in nursing homes with contact with family, people sick and dying in hospitals with no visitors allowed, and newborn babies swept away from their parents because they tested positive.
Of course, the greatest cost in the end is likely to be our freedom as health dictators are allowed to run our lives in a never-ending emergency.
House Republican Oversight Committee is demanding to see a transcript of the teleconference referred to in those emails.
