Friday night, he walked back into the room where a gunman tried to assassinate him – and they had to sit there and watch.

Trump Returns to the Scene of the Crime
Three months ago, a gunman stormed the White House Correspondents' Dinner with a shotgun, a handgun, and four knives – and tried to assassinate the President of the United States.
Trump was evacuated.
The establishment media gave each other awards and kept partying.
On Friday night, Trump walked back into that dinner – now relocated from the Washington Hilton to the Waldorf Astoria, with a fraction of the usual crowd and enough security to lock down a small city – and delivered something they never expected.

An hour of pure humiliation.
"This place is really the largest group of Trump derangement syndrome people ever put together at one time, I suspect," Trump told the assembled journalists.
They sat there and took it.
He went after CNN's Anderson Cooper first – a man who spent years doing friendly interviews with Trump before transforming into one of his most devoted critics the moment Trump entered politics.
"I like Anderson actually because he's covered me well for many years, then he went bad as soon as I went for politics," Trump said.
Then he turned to Kaitlan Collins.
Trump told the room he'd heard Collins had landed a major corporate sponsorship – then delivered the punchline: it wasn't her on the Bud Light can, it was Dylan Mulvaney.
The room sat largely in stunned silence.
The Moment That Has Everyone Talking
But the line that exploded the internet wasn't about Cooper or Collins.
It was about Bobby Kennedy and a dead raccoon.
Trump informed the crowd that Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – seated right there in the room – had personally run over the beef tenderloin's source animal with his car, cut it up himself, and delivered it fresh to the Waldorf Astoria that evening.
He then thanked Bobby for proposing a raccoon roadkill appetizer – his "favorite cut of male raccoon roadkill" – and noted the kitchen had to draw the line somewhere, roping Kennedy's wife, actress Cheryl Hines, into the joke by name.
Kennedy sat there grinning while the president roasted him in front of the entire Washington press corps.
That's what confidence looks like.
Why This Night Mattered
Here's what the media isn't telling you about Friday's dinner.
Trump boycotted this event for his entire first term.
He refused to sit in a room full of journalists who lied about him for four years, invented the Russia hoax, and tried to run him out of the country on fabricated charges.
The press interpreted that as weakness.
Friday night, they found out it was a choice.
Then he reached behind the lectern, pulled out a red "Trump 2028" hat, and told the room he was running for a fourth term.
"I'm pleased to announce my intention to – and this is somewhat of a scoop – my intention to run for a fourth term as president of the United States," Trump said as he put it on.
Every reporter in that room knows he's right about one thing.
The establishment media built entire careers, networks, and revenue streams on covering Donald Trump.

Without him, CNN was in freefall.
Without him, the New York Times loses subscribers by the millions.
Without him, the entire Washington press infrastructure that showed up to the Waldorf Astoria on Friday night – giving each other trophies and drinking wine on their media company expense accounts – has nothing to cover that anyone actually cares about.
Trump didn't just roast the press on Friday night.
He reminded them who they work for.
