The FBI spent five years telling Congress its informants didn't push anyone into the Capitol on January 6.
Now the President of the United States is saying the FBI told those informants to go in.
That's not a theory anymore – it's the sitting president on the record, and the people who were prosecuted deserve to hear every word.
What Trump Actually Said to Miranda Devine
On Wednesday's Pod Force One with the New York Post's Miranda Devine, Trump didn't hedge.
"The FBI said, 'go in, go in, police, go in, go into the van,'" Trump said, describing what was done to the J6 defendants he later pardoned.
He called them great people.
He said they were decimated.
He said the government was crooked.
And then he said something that should land like a brick: he believes they should be reimbursed.
The FBI had 26 confidential human sources on the ground in Washington that day.
The DOJ's own Inspector General confirmed the number in December 2024 – after years of Christopher Wray refusing to say how many were there.
Four of those informants entered the Capitol during the riot.
Thirteen went into restricted areas.
Only nine of the 26 stayed out of trouble entirely.
When Wray finally faced Congress directly, he said: "If you are asking whether the violence at the Capitol on January 6 was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources and/or agents, the answer is emphatically no."
He never answered how many informants were there.
The IG had to drag that number out.
The FBI Has Done This Before
Here's what the media won't connect for you.
This isn't novel.
The FBI ran COINTELPRO from 1956 to 1971 – a covert infiltration program that used agents provocateurs to push political groups toward violence so they could be discredited in the eyes of the public.
In one documented 1970 case, an FBI informant burned down a building at the University of Alabama during campus protests – and police then arrested 150 demonstrators for unlawful assembly.
The bureau infiltrated the Michigan governor kidnapping case so thoroughly that a federal judge later questioned whether the FBI manufactured the conspiracy rather than uncovered it.

In Colorado, the FBI used paid informants against Black Lives Matter groups during the 2020 George Floyd protests.
The pattern isn't a theory.
It's a documented, repeated tactic the FBI deploys when it decides a political movement needs to be destroyed from the inside.
The people who spent five years calling J6 a spontaneous insurrection never wanted you asking one question: why were 26 FBI informants already in position before anything happened?
They Prosecuted the Crowd While the Informants Walked Free
Here's the part that should make your blood boil.
The DOJ went after J6 defendants with deliberate maximum force – charging as many people as possible to create what internal communications described as "shock and awe."
They put Peter Navarro in leg irons at an airport for a contempt charge.
They handed out seditious conspiracy indictments to people who were, in some cases, following individuals they had no idea were FBI assets.
And the informants who entered the Capitol – who broke the same laws the defendants were prosecuted under – faced no charges.
That's not a justice system.
That's a setup where the government ran the operation, prosecuted the participants, and shielded the people it sent in.
Trump pardoned as many as he could.
Now he's on record saying the FBI told them to go in.
The question that comes next is the one Wray never answered: who gave that order – and why did it take a presidential interview in 2026 to say it out loud?
