Joe Biden is convinced that a criminal conviction against Donald Trump before the election represents his best path to re-election.

Trump has other ideas.

And Donald Trump hit Jack Smith with one nasty surprise that has Democrats in panic mode.

Jack Smith wants quick conviction against Trump in rigged political show trial

Joe Biden’s handpicked prosecutor Jack Smith planned to stage a quick show trial for Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. on charges Trump attempted to overthrow the government on January 6 where Obama Judge Tanya Chutkan would rig all the rulings against Trump, and a jury of 12 Trump hating Democrats would hand down a swift guilty verdict in a trial that is about as on the level as a professional wrestling match.

Smith constantly claims there is a compelling national interest in immediately putting Trump on trial.

“[Trump’s] personal interest in postponing trial proceedings must be weighed against two powerful countervailing considerations: the government’s interest in fully presenting its case without undue delay; and the public’s compelling interest in a prompt disposition of the case,” Smith argued in court filings.

“The charges here involve applicant’s alleged efforts to disenfranchise tens of millions of voters,” Smith also argued. “The national interest in resolving those charges without further delay is compelling.”

But Smith never explains what this “compelling interest” is in putting Trump on trial before the election.

Legal experts understand it to mean the compelling interest is getting a conviction to help Joe Biden win the election.

Donald Trump plans to upend Smith’s scheme for quick conviction before the election

But the 2020 election case is on ice as the Supreme Court mulls over Trump’s motion to delay the trial while he appeals to have the charges dismissed over Presidential immunity.

Trump’s now asking Judge Aileen Cannon in Florida to reschedule the May trial date for the Mar-a-Lago document dispute to the summer, which would box out Judge Chutkan from holding the 2020 election case before the election.

“Meaning, ice her,” a source close to Trump told CNN about his strategy to delay the D.C. criminal trial. “Making it impossible for her to jam a trial down before the election, by things that are out of her control.”

Trump’s campaign and his lawyers cast these cases as nothing less than election interference.

“The Special Counsel seeks urgently to force President Trump into a months-long criminal trial at the height of campaign season, effectively sidelining him and preventing him from campaigning against the current President,” Trump’s lawyers argued.

Even if Judge Cannon schedules the document case for summer, the complex nature of the issues involved means it’s likely to get pushed past the election.

And once fall hits, it’s going to be very difficult for the Justice Department to put Trump on trial as their own protocols say they shouldn’t make any prosecutorial decisions within 60 days of election due to not wanting to influence the outcome.
