Donald Trump and Joe Biden are gearing up for a rematch in 2024.
But the former President threw Biden one nasty curveball.
And Donald Trump agreed to one surprising request that left Joe Biden trembling in fear.
President Joe Biden’s glaring mental decline is bringing attention to his age as he prepares to launch his reelection campaign.
Biden would be 86 years old at the end of a potential second term and questions are swirling if he’s mentally up to the task of being President.
Former South Carolina Governor and Republican Presidential candidate Nikki Haley put Biden on the spot after she launched her campaign.
Haley proposed that any politician over the age of 75 should take a mandatory mental competency test to prove they’re fit to serve, a thinly veiled shot at Biden.
The White House hasn’t acknowledged if Biden has taken any type of mental competency test or released any results.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre bristled at Haley’s call for mental competency tests for politicians.
“They said he couldn’t do it in 2020, and he beat them,” Jean-Pierre told reporters. “Maybe they are forgetting the wins the president has had these past couple of years, but I am happy to remind them.”
Haley’s proposed test would also apply to her GOP primary rival, former President Donald Trump.
The 76-year-old former President came out in support of the proposal on his Truth Social platform.
“ANYBODY running for the Office of President of the United States should agree to take a full & complete Mental Competency Test simultaneously (or before!) with the announcement that he or she is running, & likewise, but to a somewhat lesser extent, agree to a test which would prove that you are physically capable of doing the job,” Trump wrote.
“Being an outstanding President requires great mental acuity & physical stamina. If you don’t have these qualities or traits, it is likely you won’t succeed. MAGA!” Trump continued.
Unlike Biden, Trump has touted his success in taking cognitive tests while he was President.
In a 2020 interview with Fox News, Trump said that he shocked doctors with his memory.
The exam consisted of repeating five words in their exact order after a short delay.
“And you go: ‘Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.’ If you get it in order, you get extra points,” Trump said. “They said nobody gets it in order. It’s actually not that easy, but for me, it was easy.”
He said that Joe Biden should take the same test to prove his fitness for the Presidency.
“Joe should take that test because something is going on, and I say this with respect,” Trump said. “I mean, [it’s] going to probably happen to all of us, right? You know, it’s going to happen. But we can’t take a chance of it happening.”
Joe Biden’s mental fitness is an issue the 80-year-old president won’t be able to duck on the campaign trail.
