Former President Donald Trump has been taking flak from Democrats and their allies in the media over a visit to Arlington National Cemetery.
The Gold Star families of the 13 soldiers killed at the Kabul Airport during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal invited the Trump campaign to attend a wreath-laying ceremony on the third anniversary of their deaths.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris both turned down an invitation to come to the event.
Afghanistan is one of the biggest debacles of their administration and they’ve done their best to ignore it.
Trump has been a source of comfort to the Gold Star families that have been ignored by the White House.
National Public Radio (NPR) ran an unconfirmed report that the Trump campaign got into a verbal and physical altercation with a member of the cemetery’s staff.
Democrats claimed that Trump was illegally campaigning at the private ceremony that he was invited to attend.
Now, they’re pleading with the Army to drop the hammer on him.
U.S. Representative Adam Smith (D-WA) – the highest-ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee – and two House Democrats urged the Army to investigate Trump.
Democrats continue to make themselves look foolish
Democrats claimed the Trump campaign “clearly violated the rules and regulations prohibiting political activities at Arlington National Cemetery by using one of our country’s most hallowed sites for partisan campaign purposes.”
Smith wanted the Army to look at banning Trump from ever setting foot in Arlington National Cemetery.
And he demanded a criminal investigation into the alleged physical altercation that the Trump campaign was involved in there.
“As with any alleged assault, this incident should be investigated by the appropriate law enforcement authorities and should be subject to an independent charging decision,” Smith wrote the Army, while pressing them to cooperate.
The Army previously declared the allegations of a physical and verbal altercation were considered a closed matter.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung denied the allegations and is prepared to release video to refute them.
Democrats are desperately trying to find a way to save face after the news cycle backfired on them over Trump’s trip to Arlington National Cemetery.
Trump showed his compassion by attending the wreath-laying ceremony at the family’s request.
It brought attention to the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle that Kamala wanted to ignore in an election.
The attacks on Trump are intended to take the spotlight off the Vice President.
Democrats know the real story here is that the Biden-Harris administration botched the withdrawal by turning security outside the Kabul Airport over to the Taliban and has ignored these families ever since.
Biden was caught looking at his watch multiple times during a dignified transfer ceremony in 2021 when the soldiers’ remains returned to the United States.
Kamala Harris and her allies politicized the cemetery visit while the Trump campaign never did.
