Now Democrats in Virginia just held a straw poll – and the woman who won it wants to abolish ICE and eliminate your health insurance.
And the woman who beat every other name on the ballot will terrify you.
The Self-Described Socialist Leads the Pack
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez topped the Arlington County Democratic Committee straw poll this past Friday with 33 votes.
Pete Buttigieg came in second with 26.
Kamala Harris – the woman who just cost Democrats the White House – pulled in 3 votes.

The woman who spent a billion dollars and still lost to Trump got fewer votes than a county picnic charges for admission.
This isn’t some fringe progressive event, either.
Arlington County is the kind of deep-blue Northern Virginia suburb that Democrats need to win in order to stay competitive in the state.
These are the party faithful – the people who pay $20 to attend a Democratic picnic on a Friday night.
And they just handed their 2028 straw poll to a self-described democratic socialist who ran on Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and abolishing ICE.
What AOC Actually Believes
This is not a caricature.
AOC has called herself a democratic socialist in her own words – repeatedly and proudly.
Her signature agenda includes Medicare for All, which would eliminate private health insurance for 160 million Americans.
She wants a 70% marginal tax rate on income above $10 million.
She co-authored the Green New Deal – a proposal so extreme that even its own backers admitted the FAQ section had to be walked back after it promised economic security for people “unwilling to work.”
She has called for abolishing ICE – the agency that arrests child traffickers, drug smugglers, and gang members.

She said it herself: “Presidents come and go, elected officials come and go, but single-payer healthcare is forever.”
That is the woman Arlington Democrats just put in first place for 2028.
This Is Not a Local Story
Arlington is not some outlier.
A May 2026 AtlasIntel survey of over two thousand adults found AOC leading the entire Democrat presidential primary field – the first national poll to put her out front.
Prediction markets have her jumping from 9% to 15% odds in a single month.
She’s not a fringe protest candidate anymore.
She is the frontrunner.
And here’s what that actually means if she wins.
Medicare for All eliminates the private health insurance you have right now – the plan you picked, the doctor you chose, the coverage you’ve had for decades.
The Green New Deal comes for your gas stove, your car, your utility bill, and your grandkids’ job prospects.
Abolishing ICE means the agents who keep MS-13 out of your community go home and the criminals stay.
She’s not hiding the agenda.

The Democrat Party watched Harris lose swing states, lose Latino men, lose black men under 50, lose the White House – and looked at all of that and said: not radical enough.
That is who these people are.
And in a county park in Virginia on a Friday night, the party faithful paid their twenty dollars, ate their hot dogs, and voted for the woman who wants to remake the country they grew up in.
They’re not confused.
They’re committed.
Which means so should you be.
