Nashville's honky-tonk scene used to belong to struggling musicians playing for tips.

Now the biggest names in country music own the stages and cash the checks.

And country stars just turned their fame into a restaurant empire worth millions.

Blake Shelton's Ole Red Empire Dominates From Vegas to Tennessee

Blake Shelton proved the country star restaurant concept works on a massive scale.

His Ole Red chain now spans six locations across the country with combined annual revenue in the tens of millions.

The Las Vegas location alone covers 27,000 square feet and seats 686 guests across four stories.¹

"If you are going to do something here, you've got to do it big," Shelton said in a press release on the Ole Red website. "Every time I'm in Vegas, I want some country music, and Ole Red is the remedy for that."²

Locations span Nashville, Gatlinburg, Orlando, Tishomingo, Oklahoma, and Las Vegas with menus featuring items like "Redneck Nachos" and "Blue Tick Burger."

Shelton's wife Gwen Stefani surprised fans with an impromptu performance at the Las Vegas location earlier this year.

The "God's Country" singer smartly partnered with Ryman Hospitality Properties to operate the venues professionally.

That decision separated Ole Red from most celebrity restaurant failures by bringing in experts who know how to run profitable operations.

Jason Aldean Rakes In $1 Million Per Concert Plus Restaurant Revenue

Jason Aldean turned his country stardom into an $80 million fortune through smart business moves.

His Jason Aldean's Kitchen + Rooftop Bar locations in Nashville, Gatlinburg, and Pittsburgh generate steady income beyond touring.³

"I don't know that anybody's competition," Aldean told Fox Business in May 2024. "I mean, I think down there, when you have all those bars, there's so many people in Nashville, so many people moving there every day and visiting every day that it's almost like you have to have all those bars just to accommodate everybody."⁴

The "Try That in a Small Town" singer recently sold his music catalog for $100 million.

But his restaurant chain provides recurring income that doesn't depend on new album releases or tour schedules.

Each location offers pulled pork and brisket with rooftop bars featuring Nashville skyline views.

Aldean's business acumen includes partnerships with brands like Teabird alcoholic sweet tea and his own bourbon line.

"Surrounding yourself with the right team, the right people who have the same vision as you, that's the key to any successful business," Aldean explained to R&L Wealth Partners.⁵

The restaurants attract both die-hard fans and tourists who want the Nashville experience.

Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan Join Broadway Gold Rush

Miranda Lambert's Casa Rosa opened in May 2021 and calls itself "a little taste of Texas in Tennessee."

The Tex-Mex restaurant serves Nashville hot chicken alongside traditional Texas favorites.

Luke Bryan's Luke's 32 Bridge Food + Drink was the first six-story entertainment venue on Nashville's Broadway when it opened in July 2018.

"We wanted people to be able to come and go have a dining experience, go have a nightclub experience or just go have a honky-tonk experience," Bryan told a South Carolina radio station in 2018.⁶

The restaurant features both dining and rooftop menus with burgers and beer can chicken as signature items.

Broadway has become the most valuable commercial real estate in Tennessee because of these celebrity-backed venues.

Kid Rock opened The Detroit Cowboy in Nashville in June 2024 focusing on seafood and steak with a laid-back atmosphere.

Dierks Bentley and Eric Church Build Multi-City Operations

Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row operates locations in Scottsdale, Denver, and Nashville.

The chain opened its first location in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2013 before expanding to Music City.

When the Nashville location opened on Broadway in 2018, Bentley called it a "full-circle moment."⁸

"When I first moved to Nashville, Broadway was my second home," Bentley said.

Eric Church's six-story Chiefs opened on Broadway in April 2024 with multiple bars, stages, and a barbecue restaurant.

The venue features a two-story seated music venue for ticketed events and a broadcasting studio for Church's Outsiders Radio SiriusXM channel.

Church partnered with James Beard Award-winning pitmaster Rodney Scott for the food program.

These multi-story entertainment complexes cost tens of millions to build but generate massive returns.

Celebrity restaurants traditionally fail at high rates.

But the country star model succeeds by pairing live performances with regional food in markets where both are already popular.

The restaurants also serve as permanent marketing for the artists who own them.

Fans visit Nashville specifically to eat at their favorite singer's establishment and might catch a surprise performance.

That creates word-of-mouth advertising money can't buy.

This business model could expand beyond Nashville as country music's popularity continues growing nationwide.
