The Left is injecting wokeness into every area of society.
Even cherished holidays aren’t safe from their agenda.
And concerned moms are trying to stop the woke mob’s assault on this Thanksgiving tradition.
The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a tradition dating back to 1924, making it the second oldest Thanksgiving parade in the country.
The normally kid-friendly parade features large balloons of characters from cartoons, kid’s books, and movies.
It also features live performances from musicians, marching bands, and performers to entertain families on Thanksgiving Day.
Now a petition from a pro-family group is gaining steam after the parade decided to add wokeness to the lineup this year.
One Million Moms, a part of the American Family Association, launched a petition that has over tens of thousands of signatures and counting calling for a boycott of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade over its “LGBTQ agenda” and “indoctrination.”
“The non-binary and transgender extravaganza on display this Thanksgiving will be brought to you by Macy’s during their annually sponsored Thanksgiving Day Parade,” the petition from One Million Moms stated. “Unless they are forewarned about it, this year’s holiday parade will potentially expose tens of millions of viewers at home to the liberal LGBTQ agenda.”
The group highlighted several Broadway performers set to appear at the parade who are non-binary.
One of the Broadway performers, Justin David Sullivan, uses the “he/she/they” pronouns.
“To every queer, trans, non-binary, or person of color in the audience, this performance is dedicated to you,” Sullivan’s page on the website for a musical states.
Sullivan turned down a nomination at the 2023 Tony Awards, Broadway’s version of the Oscars, because the awards show uses male and female categories for performers.
“There’s nothing more that I want to empower than non-binary people, to show that it’s possible to be non-binary on Broadway, play a non-binary character on Broadway and be nominated, and possibly potentially awarded,” Sullivan told Playbill about turning down the nomination. “I felt like I couldn’t choose. I didn’t feel right being in either category because it didn’t resonate with me.”
Another performer at the parade, Alex Newell, is a male who prefers to use “all pronouns.”
Newell played a transgender woman on the television show Glee.
“I myself may not be trans, but I am heavy on the gender-nonconforming,” Newell said.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade courted controversy in 2021 when it featured a performance from German pop singer and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kim Petras who was called the “world’s youngest transsexual” for undergoing gender reassignment surgery at 16.
“Thanksgiving Day, this liberal nonsense will be broadcast live from New York on NBC, starting at 8:30 a.m. Eastern,” the petition reads.
The once family-friendly tradition of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the latest cultural landmark to fall victim to wokeness.
