Chuck Schumer Held TSA Hostage for 37 Days and Donald Trump Just Sent ICE to Every Airport

Over 400 TSA agents just quit heading into the busiest spring break travel week of the year – because Chuck Schumer needs ICE to unmask.

Day 37 of the Democrat shutdown – and Trump just sent ICE to every major airport in America.

Every family stuck in a three-hour security line this spring break knows exactly who did this to them.

How the DHS Shutdown Destroyed TSA Staffing in 37 Days

The shutdown started February 14 when Democrats blocked DHS funding after two U.S. citizens were shot during an immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis.

Their demands: force ICE agents to unmask, obtain judicial warrants before arrests, and stop roving patrols targeting illegal immigrants.

Trump said no.

So Schumer shut it down – taking 50,000 TSA workers' paychecks with him.

The numbers tell the story Democrats don't want you to see.

More than 400 TSA officers have quit since February 14.

At Houston's Hobby Airport, callout rates hit 55% in a single day.

At Atlanta and New Orleans, more than 30% of agents called out at once. On Saturday, a record 3,250 TSA employees called out nationwide in a single day.

DHS put it plainly: this shutdown has caused more than 400 officers to quit and thousands to call out because they cannot afford gas, childcare, food, or rent.

This is the third time in six months Democrats have done this to TSA workers – following the historic 43-day full government shutdown last fall and a brief lapse in January.

Each time, the same agents. The same missed paychecks.

The same families choosing between rent and showing up.

Why Trump Deployed ICE Agents to Airports During Spring Break

The 2019 government shutdown ended hours after air traffic controller absences started grounding flights on the East Coast.

Trump just handed Democrats the same ultimatum – but this time with ICE agents already on the payroll.

Congress funded ICE with billions through last summer's One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

While TSA agents are getting $0 paychecks, ICE agents are fully funded – which means Trump deployed them without needing a single vote from Chuck Schumer.

Border czar Tom Homan confirmed Sunday that ICE would be at airports Monday.

Trump's Truth Social post framed it precisely: ICE agents are going to help TSA workers "despite the fact that the Radical Left Democrats, who are only focused on protecting hard line criminals who have entered our Country illegally, are endangering the USA."

Rep. Carlos Gimenez – chair of the House Homeland Security subcommittee on transportation – backed the move without hesitation.

"I think it will help and it'll speed up the process greatly," Gimenez told Fox News Digital.

Homan's plan is straightforward: put ICE agents on terminal exits and entrances, pull TSA officers off guard duty, and push trained screeners back to the checkpoints where they're actually needed.

Democrats screamed. Sen. Richard Blumenthal called it "unacceptable morally, legally, politically."

Gimenez had the only answer that matters.

"If they are worried about ICE agents now at TSA facilities, why don't you just fund DHS and then you don't have to worry about having ICE agents at TSA facilities?"

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy had already told Americans exactly what was coming if Democrats held out: "These are going to be good days compared to what's going to happen a week from now as America tries to travel."

That was last Friday.

Democrats had their chance.

They chose the masks.
