Democrats sat on their hands at the State of the Union when Trump asked them to stand for American citizens over illegal aliens.
Now a resurfaced clip explains exactly why they couldn't do it.
Senator Chris Murphy told MSNBC in 2024 that illegal immigrants are "the people we care about most" – and the tape just went viral.
Senate Democrats Have Blocked DHS Funding Five Times to Protect Illegal Immigrants Over TSA Workers
Murphy made the admission during a 2024 interview with MSNBC's Chris Hayes.
Hayes was pressing Murphy on why Democrats had been pushing Ukraine funding instead of a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Murphy's answer was disarmingly honest.
"That has been the Democratic strategy for 30 years, maybe," Murphy said, "and it has failed to deliver for the people we care about most – the undocumented Americans that are in this country."
Notice he didn't say "undocumented migrants."
He said "undocumented Americans."
That's the tell.
In Murphy's world, people who entered the country illegally are already Americans – with American rights, American protections, and apparently American priority over actual American workers.
The clip resurfaced Monday night on the End Wokeness account, and within hours it had lit up conservative media and the White House.
"This has absolutely proven to be true and never more than this week," Senator Bernie Moreno wrote.
He's right.
Senate Democrats have now blocked DHS funding five separate times since February 14.
Over 100,000 DHS employees – TSA agents, Coast Guard personnel, FEMA workers, cybersecurity teams – have missed full paychecks.
More than 450 TSA officers have quit entirely.
Airport security lines during spring break have stretched to four hours at major hubs.
Democrats are doing all of that – forcing American families to miss flights, forcing American workers to go without paychecks – because they refuse to fund the one agency that also funds ICE.
Protecting illegal aliens from deportation is worth more to them than paying the people who guard your airport.
Murphy just said so himself.
The Party That Sat Down Twice
White House deputy chief of staff James Blair bookmarked the Murphy clip on X with a simple note: "Bookmarked for later this year!"
He won't have to look far.
The State of the Union footage is already sitting in the same file.
On February 24, Trump asked every lawmaker in the chamber to stand if they believed the first duty of the government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.
Republicans stood.
Democrats sat.
Trump looked at the Democratic side and said what millions of Americans were thinking: "You should be ashamed of yourself."

It wasn't defiance.
It was an honest answer.
The Democrats who stayed seated are the same Democrats who have voted five times to keep TSA agents unpaid.
The same Democrats who demanded ICE reforms as their price for reopening DHS.
The same Democrats whose colleagues have called illegal immigrants "the people we care about most."
Former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer put the Murphy clip in the sharpest political context: "And this guy is going to run for President…"
That's the punch line.
The man who just told the country that illegal immigrants rank above American citizens in Democratic priorities isn't a backbencher.
He's a likely presidential candidate.

Each one takes four to six months to replace and certify.
Democrats created those gaps in your airport security on purpose – then blamed Republicans for not splitting ICE funding away from the rest of DHS.
FEMA's disaster fund is nearly empty.
Coast Guard crews are running missions without full resources behind them.
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin put the number directly: 260,000 Americans defending the homeland are being denied the support they need because Senate Democrats refuse to fund the agency that deports criminals.
Murphy told you who they care about instead.
He said it out loud, on camera, two years ago.
The only question left is whether anyone is surprised.
