Chris Cuomo has reinvented himself after he was fired from CNN.
Now, he’s willing to spar with Democrats.
And Chris Cuomo gave a brutal reality check to Tim Walz that he’s going to hate.
Chris Cuomo calls to apologize to Donald Trump
The media’s reaction to the latest assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump at his golf club in Florida was indifference at best or acting like he deserved it at worst.
NewsNation host Chris Cuomo revealed on his show that he called Trump afterward to apologize for the media’s reaction.
“I called him today because I am ashamed of how we are responding and now responding to the threats on him, and I feel for his family, and I know you can roll your eyes and say he asked for it — listen, that’s your choice, and I think it’s a wrong choice,” Cuomo said. “We got to get out of the judgment business unless it’s judging ourselves.”
Cuomo scolded the media for “downplaying” the seriousness of the assassination attempt against Trump.
Cuomo calls out Kamala Harris and Tim Walz
Cuomo was a standard-issue Trump hater when worked at CNN.
But after he was fired and went to NewsNation he’s tried to strike more of a balance.
Cuomo slammed “partisans on both sides” for their reaction to his phone call apologizing to Trump.
He picked up a bad reputation among conservatives during his time on CNN for being a shameless partisan hack.
“Partisans on both sides weaponized it, just as I expected,” Cuomo said.
Cuomo claimed that some conservatives on social media accused his apology of being phony.
“Here’s the truth,” Cuomo explained. “I reached out to Trump to let him know that I think it is shameful and embarrassing and horrifying that he has suffered multiple assassination attempts and that is shameful how limited outrage has been. No matter how toxic I find his words and deeds and I do and he knows I am an outspoken critic, but he also knows I feel for his family and I want him safe and so should you.”
The former CNN host put the blame on what he called the “freaky, fringe” for downplaying Trump’s assassination attempt on social media.
“By the way, the right were the nice ones on this,” Cuomo said. “The real reaction I expected came heavy and hard, and it was from the Left. Boys and girls, blue checks and big followings and the rest. The main thrust of it? Trump deserves it.”
Cuomo called on Vice President Kamala Harris, President Joe Biden, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to disavow the leftists who support violence against Trump.
“Democrats, especially Harris, Walz, President Biden, you should disown these people and their ideas,” Cuomo stated. “You have been too quiet on this. Yes, the cliche applies, the silence is deafening. You want to condemn hate speech? Good. You want to condemn demonizing migrants? Good. But where is that same energy when you’re talking about violence against your opponents?”
It’s a new day in the media when Chris Cuomo becomes the voice of reason.
