Socialists love preaching about the evils of private property.
But they sure don't practice what they preach.
And Cea Weaver's mother just exposed one nasty detail that will make her squirm.
Weaver's radical attack on homeownership blows up in her face
Cea Weaver thinks your house is a racist weapon.
The newly appointed Director of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Office to Protect Tenants made that crystal clear in a resurfaced 2019 tweet.
"Private property including and kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership is a weapon of white supremacy masquerading as 'wealth building' public policy," Weaver wrote.
She also called to "elect more communists" back in 2017.
Those weren't just random tweets from some fringe activist.
This is the woman Mamdani hand-picked on Day One to run his housing policy for America's largest city.
Weaver's a high-ranking member of the Democratic Socialists of America who spent years organizing tenant strikes and pushing rent control.
In a 2021 video for the DSA, Weaver laid out exactly what she means by treating property as a "collective good" instead of something individuals own.
"It will mean that families, especially white families, but some POC families who are homeowners as well, are going to have a different relationship to property than the one that we currently have," Weaver said.
Translation: the government's coming for your house.
She wants to abolish private property and replace it with "shared equity" — socialist speak for the state controlling where you live.
Mom's $1.6 million mansion reveals the hypocrisy
Weaver rails against homeowners building wealth through real estate.
Turns out her own mother did exactly that.
Celia Applegate, a German studies professor at Vanderbilt University, owns a Craftsman-style home in Nashville, Tennessee valued at $1.6 million.
Applegate and her partner bought the property in July 2012 for $814,000.
In less than 14 years, that "weapon of white supremacy" doubled in value to $1.6 million.
The property has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and spans 3,400 square feet in one of Nashville's priciest neighborhoods.
Here's the kicker: Weaver posted in 2021 that she wanted to "shrink the value of real estate."
Her mother had owned that Nashville home for nine years by then — and it was skyrocketing in value the entire time.
Weaver also posted support for "a no more white men in office platform" back in 2017.
She made that post while living off the benefits of her mother's very profitable homeownership.
The pattern is obvious: socialism for you, capitalism for them.
Trump DOJ puts Mamdani on notice
Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon isn't playing games with Mamdani's radical housing agenda.
"New York: Consider this your official notice from @TheJusticeDept," Dhillon posted on X. "We will NOT tolerate discrimination based on skin color. It is ILLEGAL. @CivilRights is paying very close attention."
Dhillon told One America News that Mamdani's administration "should be on notice, they're on high scrutiny."
"We have several federal statutes that explicitly protect people of all colors and all different kinds of backgrounds and military status and so forth from the exact kind of land grabs and reallocation and redistribution that is being promised in New York," Dhillon explained.
The DOJ's Civil Rights Division has federal housing laws on its side.
Mamdani can promise all the "warmth of collectivism" he wants in his inauguration speeches.
But targeting homeowners based on race violates federal civil rights law.
"Just because you're white doesn't mean you have fewer rights in this country," Dhillon stated. "We all have equal rights in our country, and we will not stand for New York City violating any federal law whatsoever."
Wealthy socialists always follow the same playbook
Bernie Sanders owns three houses.
Seattle's socialist mayor lived off her wealthy parents until getting elected to destroy that city.
Now Weaver attacks homeownership as racist while her mother enjoys a $1.6 million mansion that's built massive wealth.
Mamdani's parents own multiple properties in Uganda.
Wealthy socialists lecture working Americans about the evils of private property.
Then they ensure their own families are taken care of through the very system they claim to despise.
Former NYC Mayor Eric Adams — no conservative by any stretch — ripped Weaver's comments apart.
"Homeownership is how immigrants, Black, Brown, and working-class New Yorkers built stability and generational wealth despite every obstacle," Adams wrote. "You have to be completely out of your f***ing mind to call that 'white supremacy.'"
Adams nailed it: Weaver's privileged background gives her the luxury of attacking a system that lifted millions of minority families into the middle class.
She wants to "shrink the value of real estate" — destroying the wealth of Black and brown homeowners who spent their lives building something to pass down to their kids.
Nashville experienced some of the most intense gentrification of any American city during the 2010s.
That's exactly when Weaver's mother bought her home and watched it double in value.
But Weaver denounces gentrification as part of "white supremacy and capitalism."
Mamdani stood by his controversial pick despite the mounting evidence of hypocrisy.
"We made the decision to have Cea Weaver serve as our executive director for the mayor's office to protect tenants," Mamdani told reporters.
Weaver called her past comments "regretful" — but she's not stepping down.
The Trump Justice Department is watching every move Mamdani and Weaver make.
One wrong step toward racial discrimination in housing policy, and Dhillon will drop the hammer.
