Marcia Gay Harden brags that every one of her three children are gay, trans, or "fluid."
Camryn Manheim heard that and went to a podium to admit she's jealous.
What happened next at the Human Rights Campaign's National Dinner will tell you everything you need to know about Hollywood's relationship with your children.
A Mother Who Wanted Something Else for Her Son
Manheim – best known for her role in the late-90s legal drama The Practice – stepped to the microphone Sunday night at the HRC's National Dinner in Washington, D.C. to present Harden with the Ally for Equality Award.
What followed was not a speech.
It was a confession.
"I always wanted a gay son," Manheim announced to the crowd.

She didn't stop there.
"I love that relationship between gay sons and their mothers," she said. "I wanted to be the picket sign-holding mom who would beat the s— out of somebody for her kid. I mean, let's just admit it, gay sons are the best, right? Right!"
Then came the complaint.
Her son Milo – 25 years old, a working Disney actor – knows every word to every musical ever written, grew up with photographs taken of him in drag, and had a gay man installed as his "fairy godfather" before he was old enough to have a say about it.
"I have photographs of my son in high heels, in full drag, he knows every word to every musical ever written, his fairy godfather, Aaron Walton, is here with us tonight. I mean, truly, I thought I had this f—ing thing locked up," Manheim said, "but no, no, he's the only straight guy in his entire musical theater company."
She said it like a punchline.
The crowd applauded.
The HRC Crowd That Cheered Her On
The Human Rights Campaign is not a fringe organization.

It is America's largest LGBTQ+ civil rights group – founded in 1980, 4 million members, 30 fundraising dinners per year, corporate sponsors, and Gretchen Whitmer delivering the keynote at this year's event.
These are not radicals hiding in a basement.
These are the people setting the cultural agenda for your schools, your workplaces, and your children's entertainment.
And when Camryn Manheim stood up and performed grief over her heterosexual son, they roared.
This Is What They Mean by "Ally"
Marcia Gay Harden has three children – none of them straight.
She told the Drag Isn't Dangerous telethon in 2023 that her eldest is non-binary, her son is gay, and her youngest is "fluid."
Three for three.
You don't go three-for-three on LGBTQ kids by accident.
That outcome doesn't happen in nature at those odds – it happens in environments where adults have decided what they want the result to be.
Harden got grooming accusations after going public and laughed them off.
Now she's an award winner at the HRC National Dinner, and Camryn Manheim is on stage saying she wanted the same score.
Milo Manheim didn't sign up to be his mother's punchline at a political fundraiser.
That's not a joke.
That's a program.
Online, the reaction was swift. "How do any straight males survive mothers like this?" wrote commentator Peachy Keenan. Radio host Joe Pagliarulo called it what it is: "These people are sick." Jon Nanjarian put it plainly: "Liberalism is a performative sickness."
They're right – and they're describing something bigger than one bad speech at one gala dinner.
What Manheim did Sunday night is exactly what this movement does in your kid's school, in your kid's Disney movies, and in your kid's doctor's office.
It decides what the outcome should be.
Then it works backward from there.
Milo Manheim survived it.
Most kids aren't that lucky.
