He wandered the stage, asked the crowd to snap their fingers, looked backstage and shouted, "Is anybody awake? Can somebody turn my guitar back on?"

Nobody answered.
Online, they called it a "train wreck." An "epic disaster."
He told the room that in life, when you have technical difficulties, you just gotta keep going — or as President Trump would say, you gotta fight.
Then he said goodnight and walked off the stage.
The next morning, he posted this: "I wouldn't have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me."
That's not spin.
That's character.

Fast-forward to this week.
Cyrus sat down with Sky News, and the interviewer tried the standard media trick — asked whether Trump should be "less divisive."
It's the kind of loaded question designed to get a Trump supporter to half-apologize for the man they backed.
Cyrus didn't take the bait.
"I can't speak to his voice — he's the president," he said.
Then he told the story about his father.

Ron Cyrus was a Democrat who served eleven consecutive terms in the Kentucky state legislature — over twenty years in Appalachian Democratic politics.
And that man told his son: "When the president asks you to do something, you do it."
Not when a president you agree with asks.
Not when a president your party supports asks.
The president.
Cyrus explained that he has served alongside five of them — Clinton, Obama, both Bushes, and Trump.
"Being president is a tough job," he said. "I pray for our country, I pray for our president, and I pray for our world."
The Lifelong Democrat Who Crossed Over and Never Looked Back
Here is what the Left spent the last decade doing to every entertainer who wouldn't fall in line.
They made support for Trump a career-ending move.
Awards shows turned into political rallies.
Labels quietly made clear which direction artists were expected to lean.
Performers who stepped out of line got labeled, mocked, and frozen out.
Billy Ray Cyrus openly called himself a "lifelong Democrat" as recently as 2000.
He watched the Democratic Party he grew up in turn into something his own father never would have recognized.
And when Trump invited him to play the Liberty Ball, he said yes.

When the equipment failed and the crowd went quiet and the whole thing went sideways on live television, he kept performing.
The entertainment industry called it a disaster.
Cyrus called it rock and roll.
His father spent twenty years in Kentucky Democratic politics and still believed the office of the president deserved respect regardless of party.
That ethic didn't survive in the modern Left.
It survived in Billy Ray Cyrus.
And right now, while the media circles the story looking for a way to frame him as troubled or confused or past his prime, he just told the world exactly what he believes.
He prays for this president.
He showed up when it counted.
