The Washington Post spent years lecturing America about threats to democracy.
Now the Democrat Party is running candidates who called for "death to America" and want to abolish ICE.
And Bill Maher shut Jessica Tarlov down the second she said this about Democrats.
The Moment Tarlov Lost the Room
Jessica Tarlov walked onto Real Time with Bill Maher and said Democrats are "less crazy" than Republicans.
Maher thought she was joking.
She was not.

The exchange was painful to watch – not because Tarlov got embarrassed, but because she actually believed what she was saying.
Maher asked her point-blank: "Who's less crazy?"
"Democrats," she said.
Maher's jaw dropped.
When she clarified she wasn't being sarcastic, he hit her with the line that ended the debate: "They're communists who think the Islamists are the good guys. Are you kidding?! Less crazy?!"
Tarlov tried to walk it back.
She said maybe Democrats aren't as crazy "inside," but that when they go out and give speeches they talk about the economy and corruption.
That's the best defense she had – they sound normal at speeches.
What Maher Knows That Tarlov Won't Admit
Maher pushed her on the Democratic Socialists of America.
Tarlov pivoted to asking "the candidates?" – as if the DSA is some fringe group with no real power.
Here's what she's not telling you.
On July 4, 2026, the DSA announced it had surpassed 120,000 members – surpassing the Socialist Party of America under Eugene Debs, which peaked at 113,000 dues-paying members in 1912.
These aren't fringe protesters.

DSA-backed candidates have won 35 primary races in 2026, knocking off established incumbents in New York, Colorado, and Washington, D.C.
One of those winners – Darializa Avila Chevalier, who upset a sitting Congressional Hispanic Caucus chairman in Upper Manhattan – helped co-found a campus group that posted calls for "death to America" on social media.
That's who Tarlov is defending when she says Democrats are "less crazy."
Maher Said the Quiet Part Out Loud
The most revealing moment of the segment wasn't even the "less crazy" exchange.
It was later, when Tarlov admitted she attended a far-left activist conference and came back describing the crowd as "kooky."
A Fox News liberal calling the activist base of her own party "kooky" is not a small thing.
Maher agreed and went further: if you differ from the activist left on anything, you're not just wrong – you're bad and you deserve to be punished.
The 77 million Americans who voted for Trump aren't individuals to them.
They're a monolith to be condemned.
Maher has been saying this for years, and his own party keeps proving him right.
At the Kennedy Center in June, he warned that Democrats were "well on their way" to blowing the 2026 midterms after three "outright really crazy" socialists won congressional primaries in New York City – all of them backing ICE abolition, all aligned with NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
One of them claimed American support for Israel made the United States "complicit in genocide."
Less crazy.
The Real Story Nobody's Saying
Jessica Tarlov goes to their conference, sees what's running the Democrat Party, and comes back calling it "kooky."
That tells you everything.

The activist Left has devoured its own so completely that a Democrat who defends the party on Fox News every single day can't get through one weekend with the base without coming home rattled.
That's not a fringe problem.
A Fox News national poll found that 59% of Democrats hold a favorable view of the DSA.
The lunatics aren't at the gate.
They're already inside the house, nominating candidates, winning primaries, and telling anyone who disagrees that they're the enemy.
Tarlov went to their conference and saw it firsthand.
The only people who haven't seen it are the ones still insisting they're "less crazy."
