The man who lied under oath about Monica Lewinsky is now lecturing Donald Trump about press freedom.
Bill Clinton stood at a podium and told Donald Trump he can't do what he wanted to do himself.
What Bill Clinton admitted on stage this week destroyed his entire argument against Donald Trump banning White House Press Corps.
Clinton's Confession Nobody Wanted to Hear
Bill Clinton took the stage at the Clinton Global Initiative 2026 summit and aimed his remarks directly at President Trump's decision to ban CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from White House access.
Trump pulled the credentials after those outlets published what he called "FICTION and LIES" about his administration.

Clinton's response was supposed to sound principled.
"I got news for the people who work in the White House today," Clinton told the crowd. "There were lots of times when I wanted to ban the White House press corps."
Then came the line he clearly thought was his mic drop moment.
"But I'm glad I never did, and I'm glad I couldn't," he said.
The audience laughed.
Of course they did.
Because nothing says "I respect the free press" like a man who spent eight years lying to it.
The Guy Who Lied to America's Face Is Your Press Freedom Hero
In January 1998, the Lewinsky scandal broke – first on the Drudge Report, then everywhere.
Clinton stood before the American people and said: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."
He was lying.
He lied to reporters.
He lied under oath.
The House impeached him for perjury and obstruction of justice in December 1998.
The press he now claims to have courageously protected spent two years chasing a president who was actively deceiving every journalist who asked him a question.

Clinton didn't protect the press corps – he treated them like props in a performance of innocence.
The reason he "couldn't" ban reporters wasn't virtue.
It was that the Constitution he now invokes wouldn't let him.
Trump Isn't Banning the Press – He's Enforcing Accountability
Here's what the media won't tell you about Trump's actions.
This isn't unprecedented.
Trump banned the Associated Press from pool access in February 2025 after the outlet refused to use the administration's official name – Gulf of America – for the body of water previously called the Gulf of Mexico.
The AP sued.
The appeals court ultimately allowed the ban to stand in certain restricted areas while litigation continued.
CNN, MS NOW, and Politico now face the same situation after Trump accused them of sustained false reporting.
They filed their lawsuit in U.S. District Court for Washington, D.C., arguing First Amendment violations.
Judge Timothy Kelly issued a temporary reinstatement order – but journalists from those outlets reportedly still faced access problems after the ruling.
And here's what nobody in the media will say: Trump has a legitimate argument.
The White House controls access to restricted areas.
Courts have recognized that.
A president being forced to host reporters who publish fabrications about him isn't press freedom – it's compelled propaganda distribution.
Clinton Was Cheered for Wanting the Same Thing Trump Actually Did
The strangest part of Clinton's performance wasn't the confession.
It was the applause.
A room full of media-adjacent elites cheered a former president for admitting he wanted to do exactly what they've spent weeks screaming at Trump about.

Clinton's version – frustrated but helpless – gets laughter and respect.
Trump's version – frustrated and acting – gets lawsuits and wall-to-wall outrage.
The difference isn't principle.
The difference is which team is in the White House.
Clinton spent his presidency running from reporters trying to expose genuine misconduct.
Trump is running from reporters who are manufacturing it.
The Left wants you to believe this is about protecting democracy.
It's about protecting reporters who have spent years turning a briefing room into an opposition research operation.
The Constitution stopped Clinton.
Donald Trump found a way.
