Joe Biden has completely gone off the reservation.
He’s no longer even pretending to be a moderate President.
Now Biden is pushing one policy that’s even too radical for Nancy Pelosi.
Any thought of Joe Biden being a moderate President cannot be defended.
As the radicals have taken over the center of the Democrat Party, Biden is now pursuing a radical agenda.
One big leftist agenda supported by Biden is student loan debt cancellation.
There were grumblings that Biden was attempting to discharge all student loan debt, but he quashed those rumors.
However, Biden explained, “I am considering dealing with some debt reduction . . . I am not considering $50,000 debt reduction, but I’m in the process of taking a hard look at whether or not there will be additional debt forgiveness, and I’ll have an answer on that in the next couple of weeks.”
Biden’s “debt reduction” plan is even too out there for Nancy Pelosi.
Last year, when Biden broached the subject, Pelosi declared, “People think that the President of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness. He does not. He can postpone, he can delay, but he does not have that power. That . . . has to be an act of Congress.”
When Biden has left Pelosi behind, that’s a clear sign he’s gone too far.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is also on board with the debt relief, partly because he’s worried about being outflanked on his Left.
Schumer said, “We’re working on it . . . We’re making progress, folks. We are making progress. The White House seems more open to it than ever before . . . We want our young people to realize that they can have a good future. One of the best, very best, top-of-the-list ways to do it is by canceling student debt, by getting rid of the $50,000, even going higher after that.”
Debt forgiveness and “free college” are distractions from the real problem, which is government subsidization of student loans.
Once the federal government opted to back student loans, it essentially gave universities license to spend lavishly on excessive accommodations and an army of administrators, and raise tuition without any consequence.
Students were told that they should go to college, so they incurred the debt that they cannot discharge.
People who paid off their debt or avoided college debt altogether should not be unduly burdened because of the higher ed racket that has been going on for years.
Biden is desperate to buy off younger voters with debt forgiveness, but he would only make the college debt crisis even worse.
