The Washington Post spent years telling America Trump couldn't manage anything.
Now AOC is running the same play – this time about a swimming pool.
The White House just ended the argument in one sentence.
The Swamp Comment Heard Round DC
Standing in front of cameras Tuesday, AOC unloaded on the Trump administration's Reflecting Pool renovation, calling it a swamp and blaming the algae bloom on what she called a failure to understand "the first thing about science."
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers had a simple response.
"President Trump generously spearheaded the restoration of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool – which has been plagued with algae and leaked 16 million gallons of water per year – to permanently fix the botched Obama 'repairs,'" Rogers said. "Now that the long-awaited nanobubblers have been installed, the Reflecting Pool is crystal clear and is reflecting perfectly. Thank you, President Trump!"
AOC gave a press conference.
Trump fixed the pool.
Here's what she apparently missed in her science lecture: every major Reflecting Pool renovation in modern history has produced an algae bloom.
When the Obama administration completed its $34 million overhaul in 2012, the water went green almost immediately after reopening.
The National Park Service had to treat the bloom with algaecide and double its ozone disinfection output just to bring it under control.
Emergency remediation cost $100,000 – before the pool was even a month old.
That was the same pool AOC is now pretending never had problems before Trump touched it.
The algae isn't unique to blue paint or conservative politics.
It's what happens when you drain, reconstruct, and refill a 2,000-foot concrete basin in 90-degree Washington heat.
The Obama administration learned the same lesson.
AOC apparently didn't.
Trump Acted While Democrats Complained
While AOC was filming clips for Meidas Touch, the administration was handling the problem.
Five people were arrested and five additional federal citations were issued for vandalism at the pool.
The Interior Department added security fencing around the site.
The National Park Service deployed hydrogen peroxide treatments and industrial ozone systems to clear the algae.
Atlantic Industrial Coatings confirmed any remaining repairs are covered under the project warranty.

Trump personally inspected the pool and ordered repairs to begin immediately.
As of June 25, the White House confirmed the pool is crystal clear.
The Department of the Interior said it plainly: "The Reflecting Pool is crystal clear and bluer than ever thanks to President Donald J. Trump."
This Is What "Defunding Science" Actually Looks Like
AOC's argument was that the Trump administration "defunded science research" and therefore doesn't understand algae.
The irony is extraordinary.
The same woman who pushed the Green New Deal – a plan that promised to eliminate air travel, rebuild every building in America, and guarantee income to people "unwilling to work" – is now the self-appointed referee of federal pool maintenance.
The algae was not a science failure.
It was what happens in shallow sun-exposed water after major construction disturbs the nutrient balance – the same result the Obama renovation produced in 2012.
Aquatic ecologists confirmed the bloom was non-toxic and consistent with normal post-construction startup.
What the Trump administration actually did was take a pool leaking 16 million gallons of water per year – a recurring failure that persisted for years after the Obama administration's celebrated $34 million fix – and permanently sealed it with industrial-grade lining and advanced water treatment technology.
Interior Department records from fiscal year 2023 confirmed the Obama-era pool was still losing water through broken pipes long after the 2012 ribbon-cutting.
Trump closed that leak.
Before the Fourth of July.
AOC wanted a swamp story.
The pool is blue.
