Focus groups find that Democrats are in huge trouble after the election
Democrats are trying to figure out where it all went wrong for them this election after they had such high hopes for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Some members of the party are willing to blame President Joe Biden, Kamala, or inflation for why they lost the election.
Democrats and their media allies tried to claim a narrative that Vice President-elect J.D. Vance was “weird.”
It turns out that in focus groups, voters see the Democrat Party as being pretty weird.
Left-wing group Navigator Research conducted a series of focus groups with voters to figure out what ails Democrats.
Even voters who supported Democrats had harsh remarks for the party after the election.
The group was asked to compare the Democrat Party to an animal.
One member compared them to an ostrich.
“They’ve got their heads in the sand and are absolutely committed to their own ideas, even when they’re failing,” the member said.
Another person likened them to a koala bear.
“[Democrats] are complacent and lazy about getting policy wins that we really need,” the person said.
A participant bluntly stated that Democrats are “not a friend of the working class anymore.”
The Democrat brand is tarnished with voters
Navigator Research director of polling and analytics Rachael Russell said the focus groups gave “a pretty scathing rebuke” of the Democrat brand.
“This weakness they see, [Democrats] not getting things done, not being able to actually fight for people — is something that needs to be figured out,” Russell explained. “It might not be the message, it might be the policy. It might be something a little bit deeper that has to be addressed by the party.”
The focus groups were made up of young men who voted for President Joe Biden in 2020 and President-elect Donald Trump this year, voters who went for Biden in 2020 but didn’t vote this year, and voters in blue states who voted Democrat in the past but went for Trump this year.
“I think what the Democratic elites and their politicians believe is often very different from what the average Democratic voter is,” said a Georgia man who voted for Biden and flipped to Trump this year. “The elites that run the Democratic Party — I think they’re way too obsessed with appealing to these very far-left social progressivism that’s very popular on college campuses.”
Voters had negative remarks about Kamala as a candidate.
They called her “inauthentic,” “very dishonest,” and “did not seem competent.”
A woman who didn’t vote in 2024 thought that Democrats went way too far with the transgender issue.
“I think that there needs to be some parameters on what’s accepted in society and what isn’t,” the woman said. “Some of the societal norms, and I think that the Democrats have tried to open that up a little too much.”
A Georgia woman said she didn’t like Kamala “thinking that it’s okay for children to change their body parts.”
Democrats don’t have any easy answers as they try to chart a path forward during the Trump Presidency.
