Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was fuming when Biden-Harris announced this crushing defeat

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thought Democrats would be able to fundamentally transform the country.

But one of the biggest parts of the far-left’s agenda is in shambles.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was fuming when Biden-Harris announced this crushing defeat.

Major wind energy projects halted after it was touted as a massive win

The centerpiece of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal is having green energy replace the use of fossil fuels.

Democrats are trying to prop up the wind energy industry as a replacement for reliable sources of electricity like coal and natural gas.

The Biden-Harris administration has spent more than $100 billion as part of its ambitious plan to boost wind energy.

Massive offshore wind farms were supposed to be one of the big success stories of the green energy agenda.

The White House claimed in August there was “undeniable enthusiasm for a clean energy transition” when it announced that an offshore wind farm was going to be developed in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Oregon.

The Oregon offshore wind farm was touted as a sign of how the Biden-Harris administration’s “Investing in America agenda is growing the American economy from the middle out and bottom up.”

An auction was going to be held for the offshore wind lease for the site in federal waters.

But the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announced that the auction was going to be postponed because of a lack of interest.

Five green energy companies qualified to participate in the auction, but only one showed any interest.

A White House press release from early September boasted that “President Biden and Vice President Harris’s leadership has catalyzed the nation’s offshore wind industry.”

The proposed wind farm was going to allegedly generate enough electricity to power one million homes.

Ambitious offshore wind plan in shambles

The Biden-Harris administration set a goal of having 10 million homes powered by offshore wind by 2030.

Money from the wildly-misnamed Inflation Reduction Act was used to try and prop up the wind industry.

But the cancellation in Oregon is just the latest setback for offshore wind.

Major offshore wind farms in New York and New Jersey were canceled over rising costs from inflation and supply chain problems.

Even with the Biden-Harris administration showering money on the industry, companies are still having a problem making offshore wind profitable.

Power the Future’s executive director Daniel Turner told the Washington Free Beacon the cancellation was another failure for the flailing wind energy industry.

“Germany is dismantling part of its wind portfolio to expand operations at a coal mine because wind has failed,” Turner explained. “The UK announced a 10% increase in electricity for 2025 because wind has failed there, too. There is no country on earth which has pushed wind where the consumer has benefitted with lower costs and a more reliable grid.”

“Sadly, the current administration is too busy navel gazing to see the reality: wind does not work, and more money and greater expansion will not change anything,” Turner added. “We should learn from our European friends. Wind is an expensive failure.”

Green energy is another expensive big government boondoggle by Democrats.
