Majorie Taylor Greene appointed to lead new committee helping Elon Musk
President-elect Donald Trump tapped Tesla CEO Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The DOGE advisory panel will search for cuts in the government to reduce spending, eliminate regulations, and rein in out-of-control federal bureaucrats.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) is creating a new subcommittee next year in Congress headed by Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
Greene will be the chair of the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The subcommittee will work with Musk and Ramaswamy on their efforts.
“I’m excited to chair this new subcommittee designed to work hand in hand with President Trump, Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, and the entire DOGE team,” Greene said. “We will identify and investigate the waste, corruption, and absolutely useless parts of our federal government.”
The Georgia lawmaker made it clear that she was willing to take a sledgehammer to waste in the federal government.
“No topic will be off the table,” Greene vowed. “The goal of DOGE is to bring accountability and GUT useless government agencies.”
She expected that the subcommittee’s work would lead to useless government bureaucrats being fired.
“The bureaucrats who don’t do their job, fail audits like in the Pentagon, and don’t know where billions of dollars are going, will be getting a pink slip,” Greene stated. “Chairman Comer and I are focused on delivering the mandate voters sent on November 5th, and I can’t wait to get to work.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lashes out at Majorie Taylor Greene
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has been a long-time rival of Greene.
The socialist lawmaker lashed on social media over her rival’s promotion with a cheap shot.
“This is good, actually. She barely shows up and doesn’t do the reading,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on X responding to an article about Greene’s new subcommittee. “To borrow a phrase I saw elsewhere, it’s like giving someone an unplugged controller.”
“Absolutely dying at those two now getting assigned the ‘privilege’ of ‘working’ with MTG. That is actually hilarious. Enjoy, fellas! Very prestigious post you have there,” Ocasio-Cortez added.
Ocasio-Cortez is bitter because she’ll be sitting powerless in the minority for the next few years.
And Greene is ready to go after one of her sacred cows.
The Georgia lawmaker announced that the leaders of sanctuary states and cities should explain to the DOGE Subcommittee why they deserve federal tax dollars during an appearance on Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News.
“I’d like to talk to the Governors of sanctuary states and the mayors of sanctuary cities and have them come before our committee and explain why they deserve federal dollars if they’re going to harbor illegal criminal aliens in their states and their cities,” Greene said.
Majorie Taylor Greene’s work on the DOGE Subcommittee going after wasteful spending will almost certainly inspire more meltdowns from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
