Democrats live by the motto “do as I say, not as I do.”
Several high-ranking Democrat officials have been caught violating their own rules in recent years.
But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez referred to her fiancé by one word that could land her in hot water with the House Ethics Committee.
The pandemic exposed many Americans to the blatant hypocrisy that runs wild in the Democrat Party.
Democrat officials who enacted some of the most strict COVID mandates were caught on camera multiple times violating their own policies.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was caught on tape at her hair salon not wearing a facemask despite a lockdown order and mask mandate in place.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez supported mask and vaccine mandates and then fled to the Sunshine State with her fiancé to enjoy freedom in Ron DeSantis’ Florida.
Ocasio-Cortez even showed up at the 2021 Met Gala – where tickets cost $35,000 to $50,000 – wearing a “tax the rich” dress.
But now Ocasio-Cortez is once again in hot water over an issue she claims to be a champion for.
On post-travel disclosure forms, Ocasio-Cortez referred to her fiancé as her “spouse” even though the two are not yet married.
“Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D., N.Y.) office says she isn’t married,” the Washington Free Beacon reported. “But she has described her fiancé, Riley Roberts, as her ‘spouse’ in forms filed with the House Ethics Committee in 2023, which has a strict definition of that term—‘someone to whom you are legally married,’” the Beacon continued, adding “that could become a problem for the left-wing darling, since willful misrepresentations on the documents are a no-no—they could subject her to criminal prosecution, the forms state—and members of Congress are required to disclose the financial information of their spouses, which Ocasio-Cortez has declined to do.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s spokesperson Lauran Hitt defended the use of “spouse” by claiming that “House Ethics has commonly recognized the term spouse to extend to long-term partners.”
But this is not true.
The House Ethics Committee Code of Official Conduct defines a spouse as “someone to whom you are legally married.”
Since Democrats control the government and have a two-tiered system of justice for their side, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will likely never face any punishment or be held accountable for violating ethics.
But it makes even more Americans realize that Ocasio-Cortez is nothing but a left-wing hypocrite.
