New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the face of the growing socialist movement on the left.
But all is not what it seems.
And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hid one dirty secret that will cause Joe Biden this major headache.
Ever since entering Congress Ocasio-Cortez emerged as the champion in Congress for pressuring Joe Biden to eliminate student loan debt.
“Now would be a great time to cancel student loan debt, take significant climate action, and pass voting rights,” Ocasio-Cortex wrote in May 2022.
When Joe Biden imposed his illegal plan to steal $400 billion from the treasury to wipe out as much as $20,000 in student loan debt for couples making up to $249,000 per year Ocasio-Cortez cheered this move as if it was some kind of win for the grassroots.
“It was YOUR pushing, YOUR pressure, YOUR organizing that got them to this point,” Ocasio-Cortez posted on social media. “It is up to us, and to you, to decide if we are going to stop here, or if we are going to keep pushing.”
“I am very grateful for this watershed moment of a first step – it is so encouraging, thrilling, and has already changed SO many people’s lives,” Ocasio-Cortez added. “But I am also thinking about how this still leaves a question mark for those in the highest amounts of debt, who need the most amount of help. So let’s celebrate and keep going.”
But it turns out Ocasio-Cortez had skin in the game on this one.
Ocasio-Cortez’s most recent financial disclosure form showed she owed between $15,000 and $50,000 in student loan debt.
Because Ocasio-Cortez made $174,000 in her Congressional salary, she could have benefited from Biden’s student loan bailout scheme.
After the Supreme Court struck down Biden’s illegal student loan theft, Ocasio-Cortez then demanded Biden end-run the decision and concoct a new plan to stop student loan payments.
“I would like to see interest payments suspended during this time, especially during that 12-month ramp-up period,” Ocasio-Cortez said in an interview on CNN. “There are millions of people in this country that have student loan debt under . . . $10,000 or $20,000, as outlined in the plan.”
“People should not be incurring interest during this 12-month on-ramp period,” Ocasio-Cortez added. “So, I highly urge the administration to consider suspending those interest payments. Of course, we still believe in pursuing student loan cancellation and acting faster than that 12-month period wherever possible.”
And now many Americans are wondering if Ocasio-Cortez is advocating to bailout student loan debt to benefit the public or herself.
